I've posted this before ... if the bowl games want players to treat it as being important, then pay them. They can do that now with NIL. It still won't be enough for the top players to not skip, but this would add some fun.

OR.......if you skip your bowl game then you lose your privileges at the training table, weight room, etc, etc. I've enough of this shit where someone gets $$$ + a free college education and it "isn't enough, pay me MORE, dude". FU Kick rocks. Make the scholarships require bowl participation.

They are skipping bowls when they are finished with college. So Im not sure that would matter.

Bowl Games (minus BCS Bowls and Title games) have always been dubious throughout College Football. Back in the early days, they were seen as more of a treat game than competitive game and the AP and other polls awarded teams National Titles prior to Bowl Games. So the teams often showed up with players missing, did a halfway performance, etc.

I remember the 1999 Tennessee vs. Nebraska Fiesta Bowl. Tennessee's players pretty much threw in towel in the 3rd Quarter and were talking about wanting to stay healthy to go to the Pros.

I think it’s more for their teammates. Most players never make it to the NFL, but could still get a small payday if their teammates help out.

Do you enjoy watching bowl games with a 2nd string roster?
The way I see it, if you're playing in a bowl game where the players are gonna opt out, it's already a failed season, so I kinda wanna see what the guys that are gonna be on the team next year can do.

Wasn't so fun for the 2018 Sugar Bowl, 2019 Sugar Bowl was pretty good though, and was easier to swallow being there since LSU was on an entirely different level than any other team that year and was easy to just tip your cap. 2020 was just an all around embarrassing season.

Not if it's my team in some whatever bowl
We had one of those against your guys recently. And we had a ton of staters sit

I understand if it’s the Belk bowl, but this was a big game. Selfish players. Pisses me off.

Why y'all shitting on the Belk Bowl? The 2014 Belk Bowl is my second favorite UGA game of all time. Todd Grantham jumped ship to Louisville and took a bunch of players with him, had a defense that supposedly nobody could run on, and a true freshman Nick Chubb lit that Louisville defense up.

Yeah. Our two best players sat out last year, but got to use the training table etc. although I don’t think they were practicing with the team. Would have been nice to have them in a two point loss.

Belk Bowl >>>>> Rose Bowl

Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave sitting the Rose bowl out last season let us witness one of the most dominant performances by a single receiver ever so that was kinda cool
