The best EVER

He wasn’t the best, but he was absolutely my favorite pitcher

The only knock I have against Smoltz is he should have just retired instead of going to Boston and St Louis for his final season where he sucked. It was clear he was done his last injury filled season as a Brave.

But I’ll always love him as a player. Him throwing sidearmed in the 99 World Series because his arm was hurting so bad was badass, and now pitchers get extra days off for hangnails

Eck was a pussy bitch. Never saw him pitch sidearmed so he could keep pitching through an injury and then have major surgery in the offseason
Jonah Hill Ok GIF

I thought he was the 2nd best of the 3 behind Maddux. I think he's the greatest postseason pitcher.

at least Eck never put Ketchup on his socks for sympathy.

His effort in the 2004 ALCS was good, but I feel like it overshadows his entire 2001 postseason... Schilling was ridiculous that year.

NLDS G1: 9 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 9 K
NLDS G5: 9 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 9 K
NLCS G3: 9 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 12 K
WS G1: 7 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 8 K
WS G4: 7 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 9 K
WS G7: 7.1 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 0 BB, 9 K

Couple things:
Went at least 7 in every start
Never gave up more than 2 runs
The D-Backs only lost one of those games (they were winning when he exited Game 4, the bullpen blew it in the 9th)
He pitched on 3 days rest *twice* in the WS
