This movie premiered in Venice last year to a standing ovation and it finally has a US release date of September 20th. It seems like Willie Pep has almost been completely forgotten, here's hoping that this film introduces him to a new generation. I have a razor thin personal connection to this story, while I never met Willie myself when my ex-wife's father was still alive and working he picked up lunch almost every day at the diner where Willie hung out and as a big boxing fan he really enjoyed hearing all about the greatness of Willie Pep from the man himself (and that was apparently Willie's favourite/only topic LOL). The reviews are good so far and the trailer looks fantastic, I can't wait to see it. And boxing movies really are the best sports movies.
