I started watching the "Are you afraid of the Dark" reboot.

They have to turn the midnight society into some epic movie with a cult-like group instead of the original premise which was a bunch of kids, in the woods, telling scary stories.

Sometimes simple story lines are just better (and more realistic and engaging to the audience) and Hollywood hasn't figured that out.

Well, they did dial in all of the crazy at the end of first episode, so not that bad. Scary Story to Tell in the Dark didn't do that.

Yep. Hardly any original ideas anymore - just reboots.

Yeah. I think it’s worse than just figuring out what you mention. They’ve clearly figured it out in the past. But so much is just hacking over already done ideas now.

First was the movies and now more and more TV. I make it a point to avoid any TV that’s been done before (sorry new Wonder Years….I’m not likely to check you out).

It’s an interesting time as there is some amazing, original TV coming out. But, so much lazy, rehashed crap too.

Only makes it worse that they feel they have to put a new wrinkle on it, like you mention on this show.
