Today would have been my dad's 84th birthday.
When I was little he told me he never got much in the way of birthday presents when he was a kid because the family had already spent all their money on Christmas presents, dinner, etc..
Makes sense since there was very little in the way of credit back in the 40s.
I do have his .410 shotgun that he got when he was a kid though. Not sure if he got it for Christmas or his birthday? He never specified. Just said he shot a lot of rabbits and squirrels with it on the farm when he was a kid.
