That's what Ive seen that's been reported. Just basing it odd that.

That was the BS press release by Miami I’m sure. But it makes zero sense. The game was very much in doubt at halftime so it’s not like they had a huge lead to sit on. And if they wanted players to get experience in what is otherwise a meaningless game he should have opted out entirely and let that backup get meaningful reps so they could try and win the game which was the object of everyone else on the team.

He was and he got it. But you can’t justify opting out of a “meaningless game” while at the same time bragging about stats acquired in a “meaningless game”.

From what I've read the coaches wanted him to get that record and then play the back up the rest of the game. Not sure if that's actually what happened, and we'll never know. I don't really have an issue with it.
