Tournament Thread - MVC Tournament

Drake is imploding.

Loyola on a 19-0 run to turn a 18-8 game into 27-18 the other way.
 
Big guy for Drake is fucking rancid
 
Its probably for the best of the tournament if Drake doesnt win this game.

They would get absolutely trucked against a high major. They cant shoot a lick. Dont have good 1 on 1 players. And they have a big man that look likes he belongs in D3.

If they do come back and win(I doubt it), they're probably looking at a 12/13 seed. That big man isn't good, but I think they have good enough guards and DeVries is a good player to potentially put a scare in a 4/5 seed. Loyola is a pretty good defense.

Not one of these guys can shoot a lick though. Of their guys actually playing DeVries is their best shooter and hes like 33%. Penn the PG might have a worse jump shot than Tyler Kolek and just keeps hoisting them. Sturtz per his stats cant shoot a lick either. Can't shoot 58% in the lane against Major teams.

This is clearly a bad game for them at the line as they are 75% for the year. But it seems this is the norm for them taking jumpers.

Loyola meanwhile has like 3 guys you literally cannot leave open. And a few more capable.

Either way, 78 cyclones telling me Gabe might not start for this team is officially wrong lol. Im not even a Gabe guy and he would never leave the floor for Drake. At least you have to leave someone on him at the perimiter.
 
Anyone else catch the Loyola guy falling out of bounds with the ball at 62-58 yelling "timeout" when they didnt have one ??

That dude is lucky the ref ignored it lol

They make the blood pressure rise, but I’ll take that win! Drake is hard to beat.

It's not gonna matter now. Lol. I agree they aren't a good shooting team, though, I think Penn has a nice mid range game. I think they could have given a 4/5 a scare, but come up short.

And yeah, Gabe is most definitely starting for this Drake team. Gabe always started off pretty good in OOC, then in league play always struggled. Honestly, he would have been a great player in a league like the MVC. A guy like DeVries, if he stays at Drake is gonna be lighting this league up.

No sweating it out in Selection Sunday. Congrats to your guys. I'm guessing you'll fall on the 10/11 line, which is probably better than being an 8/9 anyway.

Drake didn't play their best today, but they did beat Loyola twice during the year and played better in those games. So one game of not looking good doesn't discount the positives.

As for Gabe, I wasn't dieing on a hill for him either way. I didn't even think about him when I made my original comment. He's such a quiet player, but when he starts hitting shots, you remember he is there!

Kudos to Loyola for winning the MVC Tournament!
I hope ISU doesn't draw the Ramblers.
I hope Drake gets to host a game in the N.I.T.
