Ohio St recruiting Ryan Williams and Ole Miss trying to get Harold Perkins? Further destroy college football. Stick a fork in it. NIL and Portal have done exactly what was predicted.

But the greedheads, libertarians and entitlement bunnies all love it. And the fans who think buying a NC is the way to go. Everyone wants to be George Steinbrenner now. Next comes Private Equity "investing" in teams and "enhancing their revenue streams". It's coming. Oh yeah, it's coming in the near future. Welcome to farm team football.

0 issues with NIL. Paying players goes back to when Pop Warner was a coach. I know seeing the bag game in daylight has shaken some people’s false perceptions of the game, but each to their own.

I have issues with the portal. Unlimited movement is silly. Universities put money, coaching, physical development, and even education into these kids. That investment should have some protections. Before some dope says a coach can leave at any point, please remember that almost all coaching contracts have buy outs. Probably time to end the charade of college athletics and have athletes sign binding contracts

NIL has enriched the pockets of a small percentage of college athletes and that's great for them. Combined with the transfer portal rules they are overall bad for college football and no one is surprised at what we are seeing as a result.

Sure, we went from 1-3 maybe dominating football teams each year in the old system, to still a small pool that will dominate, but gone are the days of developing your talent from within and having 5* kids in waiting learning that teams systems. Kids and coaches committed to a school and program.

The percentage of rental players of kids with no fucks to give about the school or traditions is making it all less attractive from this fans perspective. One and done took down some of college basketball's luster and is now doing the same for football.

None of that is going to help OU win a sec title.
If you can dominate Alabama, pretty much every time you play them, you can damn sure win an SEC title. Especially an SEC that is never ever going to be what it was. No conference is.

It’s senseless to debate with Oregon fans whose team has literally never won anything. I mean nothing.

sidebar.. love how ou fans (not necessarily your take) are now bringing up history the way Texas fans (including me) did.. my how things spin around..

As far as the portal, I love it.. Staffs better be doing the correct evals on the players they are targeting in the portal. Texas has been fortunate in the portal wars so far..

we lost on Williams to ou, however flipping their other DT from the portal (Lole) has been good (he's even having a better season than williams per PFF)

our insiders are saying that we are going to be aggressive for DTs once again (thanks, Bo).

The HUGE difference is that even recently OU has still been dominating in winning conference championships. Compared to OU Texas had nothing to talk about.

Just a matter of time until the conferences completely take over and institute contracts to bring some sense to it all. The only thing holding it up is the final NCAA settlement.
