Let’s stop pretending we aren’t in the middle of watching the greatest player to ever step onto the diamond.

He’s doing it on a mediocre team, not on steroids, in an era where every race is invited to play, against multiple well-rested pitchers per game, and against guys consistently throwing 95+.

He’s top or next to the top in wRC+ every year. He’s a plus defender. He’s fast and smart on the basepaths.

Trout is the best baseball player ever.

Inventing an argument so you can make this thread? I realize we are always swimming in "Trout sucks" threads around here, but...

Inventing? Wrc+ is not something I invented.

Rate stats from players currently in their prime shouldn’t be measured against guys who played into their 40’s.

Vlad Jr had a 196 last year. Nobody should believe that means he’s as much of threat at the plate as Babe Ruth.

FWIW, the four highest WRC+ seasons of the last 60 years are all from one guy, Barry Bonds.

And Norm Cash, Bryce Harper and Jason Giambi all have career highs above Trouts.

I provided stats into the 11th year.

He's already a slam dunk HOFer and probably on his way to being at least a top 20 player of all-time, but some of the missed time does hurt his case. Can't fault him for the 2020 season, but he did miss about 1/3 of 2017 and only played 36 games in 2021. Even in 2018 and 2019 he missed 22-28 games

We'll see how his 30's go. Right now, he needs 88.8 fWAR to catch Ruth. There's only four players ever to put up over 80 WAR in their 30's/40's are Ruth, Wagner, Ruth and Mays. Actually, they're the only four to put up 70+

Pujols had a 172 OPS+ through his first ten seasons. Him surpassing Bonds looked like a legitimate possibility a decade ago. His career OPS+ is down to 145 and he may not get to 700 home runs.

Baseball is a cruel mistress

Is he even playing this year or has the hangnail not been clipped yet?

Toronto has a better chance of winning a cup than trout succeeding in the playoffs.

Leads league in wrc+. Again. I repeated that from the OP, since apparently, you can’t read.
Btw: TROUT: .365/.476/.808

Not if the Leafs face the Bruins. Leafs are our bitches in the playoffs.
