Profits moves mountains. Dream your little dreams of a place in the country. I want the universe. Sure my lifetime won't see it. But we need to be taking the incremental steps to get there.
Perfectly said. And that’s just what we have not been doing. Everything has been grossly expensive, and just as grossly not bold or inspiring.
I loved the concept of the shuttle. I loved its promise as a kid. But it never delivered it. When you are a government entity on the public teat and have to use contractors that get pad on cost plus fee (and that fee gets bigger the longer you take to deliver) then what’s going to happen that’s hold and with purpose?
Elon broke that mold and is showing we can innovate and get costs down. With costs down we can push out more. It’s about time.
As a taxpayer I love this. The government will continue to have needs for space access. By lowering the cost of that access we will save on that access our government needs.
This has been the plan for a decade +. Let the private companies do the low earth orbit lifting for cheaper and let NASA concentrate on deeper exploration.
But, NASA is failing at getting off the ground with deeper exploration, and I can already see it coming….a company like SpaceX is going to take their shot at taking that too soon
Whatever gets our exploration out there quicker is good with me.
