GAME Wake Up Bitches ...Coastal Carolina vs Appy State ESPN 2

Damn good game

That was certainly a fun Wednesday night game. Nice win by the Mountaineers, who will always hold a special place in my heart

That’s why these G5 teams should not even be ranked with the P5. It’s just not the same thing.

and I like Coastal

Yep. While several programs have proven they can be better than a lot of P5s at times, over the long haul it definitely isn't the same. Just a lot harder to secure the depth needed to make it through that "haul". Hell, some of the marquee schools have a hard time with depth at certain positions.

Oh Good. App State takes out another ranked team for the first time since - sigh - I can't wait to see the replays all weekend of a game from 15 years ago.

Just rank the G5’s and form their own playoff and we can all be happy and enjoy em. I’d love that personally. Stop all this @will this be the year that a G5 makes it in? Nonsense cause we all know, NO they ain’t makin it in, and they won’t with playoff expansion either.

I've been for that a long time. But, from what I understand and it may sound strange, it is the P5s that DON'T want the G5s to break off. (Particularly the bottom 1/2 or so of the P5s.) That's why the P5s keep sweetening the pot just enough/giving a NY6 spot in order to keep G5s happy...at least financially. @Wizardhawk understands the workings of it and has done a good job of explaining it on one than more occasion.

There are a lot of chips in motion now with the negotiations leading toward a 12 team playoff. The G's want that 12 more than anything. Some of the P's would prefer (and are fighting for) an 8. Either way, there are made negotiations between the 10 conf leaders to also deal with the financial splits in either format.

If they get their way, the G's gain a lot just in the playoff format. By taking the top 6 ranked conf champions first it punishes conferences like the Pac this year that could have their winner left out while also giving higher seeds to front running G's. And 12 spots can put 2-3 in one a good year. SEC also gets their way in no limitations to how many from any one conf. They could honestly put 4 in. ND gets fucked a bit, but it's time for them to stop the indy nonsense or deal with the fact they can never get a bye.

But for any of them to get these benefits there are also strong talks going on about how the post season pie is split. I would expect the G's to get a bigger piece with more teams in it.

Both need each other. The G's can't make their budgets without it, and the P's need the G's at least content to keep padding their schedules and lopsiding their home schedules with them to over-inflate records and allow more than 50% of them to become bowl eligible.
