the company did a volunteer event yesterday in our parking lot where we built beds for kids in need. Apparently lots of kids sleep on air mattresses on the floor, so this is to get them beds.

Anyways, the charity is called Sleep in Heavenly Peace...which sounds like a good name for a casket company, not for beds...

It's actually lifted from a song about a newborn baby sleeping, my dude.

Sure, if we extend the story, it might not be the best thing to compare these beds to a barn feed trough, but there isn't much funereal about it.

When we moved out of the apartment we lived in after college and I moved back home, we gave the sleeper sofa that was in our living room to another family in the complex. I had no idea when we did it that their teenage son was like sleeping on the living room floor or whatever (all units were 2 bedroom, and they had teenage daughters), so we gave the kid a bed.

I am aware of the song...but those lyrics alone make it sound like a dead body.

the founder was there, he seemed like a good dude.
they had a good assembly line set up for us. Goal was 100 beds in 3 hrs...I think we got 64. Not too shabby. The sanders slowed down the line big time.

It's crazy when you think of all the kids that deal with stuff like that. Heartbreaking, actually.

Yeah, it sucks. And it's easy to understand why kids might not be doing well in school or whatever when stuff like that is what they go home to.

Thinking about stuff like that gets me pretty sad.

Certainly provides some perspective.
 
If you ever want to get so mad you may go blind have enterprise mess up your billing for a company rental. Holee Shit.
 
Finally got a practice schedule for baseball/softball. Start next week it appears. Looks like I was paired with the better of the 2 groups parent wise. The "head coach" of this year's team definitely didn't care for last year's coach. I bit my tongue on last year's coach as she seemed over her head.
