Well after having time to reflect on yesterdays loss it’s pretty obvious

As someone who doesn't want UTjr to succeed what I hate about that win is the recruiting implications. Jimmies and Joes > Xs and Os. There is no doubt about that. UTjr had to have most of their biggest recruits there at that game. Let's say they beat us at home and make it to the CFP ... that may get them out of top 10 recruiting into top 5. That's the bad thing from an opposition fan's perspective. They have been down so long, we want to keep them down. A big run like that can make recruits that didn't even have UTjr on their radar now have them on the radar.

I am hoping they start listening to the accolades and lose to Kentucky. Sure wish that was @Ky. Then UGA beat them. That will slow down the momentum. We'll see if that happens, but even if we beat them, there is a chance they could slide in as a second SEC team. Don't want that to happen.

We were already recruiting well coming into the season. We had a few big misses due to being out bid NIL (Miami grabbed several key players we wanted) or just missing out. However, we were on most of the top 30 recruits radar. One that is, supposedly, wavering towards Tennessee right now is Carnell Tate who was heavily on the fence when he picked Ohio State over Tennessee. Carnell likes Nico a lot and the staff at Tennessee. However, it makes sense with him picking Ohio State since they are a perennial power and closer to home. However, if Tennessee starts to show they have potential, you are right, recruits may start flocking to Knoxville again.

But you aren't if you want to compete for championships. You are recruiting like Mark Richt did. You are 10th in the nation right now? Sound good? It's not.

1. In today's SEC, you would be 5th in recruiting. If the new SEC you would be 7th. That will get you into the CFP from time to time, but it won't get you to the top consistently. It's what sucks about the SEC ... it looks like you are recruiting great, but if you are 7th in your own conference, it's going to make for tough sledding.

2. The gulf between 3 and 10th is like the gulf between 10th and 30th, or something like that. It's huge.

I lived this for the entirety of the Richt era. Really good, but not good enough. I'd love to see you be 10th every year. It would make you more competitive, but not consistently competitive at a high level.

I see what you are saying but this year class is more of an even shot gun spread than past years where all the talent was in 2-3 teams at the top. NIL is having an impact.

I would agree with you about the fans but some of these fans are Alumni that were fans prior to Saban and grew up with it, not Johnny come lucky. In fact, one of the girls that is melting down on my Facebook was a Homecoming Queen at Alabama. Again it is all about the refs.

Don't get me wrong, you have been a class act so not directing this at you but man, I wasn't expecting this time kind of a reaction from the Alabama fan base. Especially with the facts you point out about Alabama still being in the race. It seems to be directed at the fact that the opponent was Tennessee.

Man Bryce Young was phenomenal that night.
Hard to account for some of our entitled fan base. I guess it comes with winning so much they have forgotten about what it was like before Saban. I remember what it was like after Bear, and after Gene Stallings, so I love what Saban has done, but I know there will be lean times ahead unless we can land a top flight coach again, and we may never see what Saban has brought us ever again. Sadly, those entitled fans are going to be in for a rude awakening.

I live for the next game and that is all. If we win next week, then we get a bye before LSU, but playing in Death Valley is not easy no matter how bad LSU is, and with it being Saban, we will get thier best game. I hope to see UT in the title game, but for now we will see how the season plays out. :beer2:

You may also get a second chance at some that you missed on. Some of the kids that Lincoln Riley pulled out of the portal were kids who had committed to USC at one point or who wanted to, but were discouraged with the direction the program was headed.

That Bama got cheated out of the game by the officials. It’s a shame too that the officials would make a great historical rivalry game about them.

17 penalty’s to 6.

A blatant missed targeting.

A bullshit PI call after Bama got the game clinching INT.

Trying everything in their power to give Tennessee a 5th down.

This is all off the top of my head too I’m sure their are plenty more I’m forgetting. Sankey definitely put the fix in because of the outside shot of getting 3 SEC teams in the playoffs.

Fuck Tennessee
Sore ass loser.

Not really. Bama, UGA will be at 310+, not sure about the no. 3 class.

As an example, you currently have 3 top 100, 8 top 250. UGA has 7 top 100, and 18 top 250. That's 18 to 8 top 250. That's a huge gulf in talent. Fricking Bama has something like 12 top 100. But "only" 18 top 250. They are really top-heavy, which is a good thing for them.

We will land at least 3 more top 100 guys probably more like 5. That's more than you have right now. I am not saying that to rub it in, I am simply pointing out that being top 3 is way different from being top 10. My hope is you lose 3 games to end the year and lessen the impact of your Bama win. We are rivals, after all.

Good points. I do think it is more spread out than it appears this year. Tennessee had several top 100 close misses (some maybe re-evaluating) but the good news was that right after that miss, we got a very good top 250 to fill that spot.

I referenced Carnell Tate who was a top 20 WR. He has been going back and forth with Tennessee but verbally committed to Ohio State. He apparently was on campus again in Knoxville this weekend and really likes staff. Literally a day after Carnell announced Ohio State, Tennessee grabbed Cameron Seldon who is a 4 star WR.

Francis Mauigoa was another one. NIL was the loss here based on rumors (everything after this is speculation). Mauigoa was asking for an insane amount and Miami paid up. Ultimately, Tennessee felt the money could be spent elsewhere. Shortly after he announced, we landed three star OL Shamurad Umarov out of Georgia (many think he is underrated).

Even when we miss, we are grabbing people. We got four 4 star Defensive Backs in this current class (we desperately need help there).

You are spot on though that Tennessee is building for recruits. Heupel has made a great selling point about atmosphere. I never thought about this but Tennessee has a very unique Game Day experience that can line up with about any program nationally. Heupel constantly makes references to this.

ESPN College Game Day has now come to Knoxville twice, we are center of attention. Players are wanting to come and see what it is about. You are correct that this could be a threat.

In a lot of ways, the way Alabama-Tennessee ended this past Saturday was probably better than had Tennessee maintained the momentum after the 28-10 lead and Alabama folded leading to a blow out. Alabama, and Bryce Young, really pushed Tennessee and created an instant classic that Tennessee came out of alive. Perfect story and atmosphere for recruiting and national attention (i.e. recruiting).

In summary, your posts about being concerned about recruiting and Tennessee was spot on. I think both Georgia and Tennessee could be heading for a titanic matchup of unbeatens in Athens (you still have to beat Florida and we have to beat Kentucky but I think that is going to happen).

I hope OP was attempting a tongue-n-cheek approach because otherwise it comes off as a whiny bitch

nah. Looked like he wanted to go into a fit of rage and barely controlled himself. The look on his face wasn't celebratory, made two fists and wanted to scream that it was actually a touchdown.
