Pretty hot topic on Twitter right now. He pretty much said “It’s not my job to mentor Willis”

Personally, I agree with him. I’m not gonna help someone take my job. Did Tom Brady mentor Jimmy G? Did Favre mentor Aaron Rodgers?

And aside from being a massive fag, I think Rodgers turned out ok, though he probably would have been more of a man had Favre took him under his wing

I'm sure there's "learning moments" for everybody during film study in the position rooms or at practice, but at the end of the day it's Tannehill's job to be the best starting QB for the team. If Willis learns by observing, great.

It's an interesting dynamic for sure, and it's also probably contingent on whether or not a QB had a similar figure in his QB room when he was a rookie. If a guy never had someone give him the example, I'm not sure he'd even understand what the "expectation" is.

And I think there's a fair degree of "place in career" that goes into it, for the veteran. Usually the "mentor" role is put on a guy that's expected to be gone next season. A guy in his career peak isn't going to want to approach the current season like it's his last year and the next season, he's gone.

I don't mind it, from the veteran's POV. He already knows that the team didn't invest a relatively high pick in a QB to never play.

This was just what I was going to lay out. It really depends on where the incumbent is in their career. At Tannehills point of career I don’t see any issue with him saying it’s not his job to mentor.

A guy getting up in years should be professional enough to mentor a guy….not to take his job…but to take the torch when it’s the vets time.

I thought Favre should have mentored Rodgers as an example. But here is a tricky point….the incumbent veteran has to see they are coming to an end themselves….and a lot don’t want to admit that.

Farve didn't mentor Rodgers because he was afraid Rodgers would turn him gay.

Brett Favre was the original little bitch

They cut off his comment halfway thru.

I am fine with Tannehill trying to keep his job.
Image result for nothing to see here gif

Tannehill isn't nearly as talented as Farve, Rodgers or Brady.

He needs to STFU.

Retire. Unretire. Threaten to retire?

Sounds like Favre did take Rodgers under his wing.

Fuck Brett Favre.

Prima donna bitch who sent dick pics to some woman while his wife was at home in bed with cancer and embezzled millions from the state of MS and never got charged.

which is more reason for Tannehill to not train the new guy.
Tannehill is responsible for his game play & ability to take care of his family. (pay check)
Not figure out a way to lose his job.

Brady could have trained the shit out of Jimmy G. Brady was always gonna play until he decided he didnt want to anymore.
Tannehill not so much.
