Because that's when Oklahoma plays Texas in the Red River Showdown.
Was wondering if it was going to get crowded out by some other games.

The only other lock down date I can think of is the Thanksgiving Game Texas/Texas A&M

what are some other dates

Tennessee/Alabama love match is in Oct., but it might be the 3rd Saturday. One of those goober fans will probably respond.

edit
Auburn/ Georgia might be in Oct

I know what they need to do, put y’all in the 11am eastern time slot

I gotta believe that the SEC will be smart enough to keep that game at least at the 3:30 spot or later. You KNOW where I’d have that game.

It is called third Saturday in October but lately it has been 4th Saturday most of the time. Go figure.

Florida-Georgia and Auburn-LSU are sometimes in that period but I think the RRSO might not have a lot of competition and will fit nicely on the same date.

Yeah, that would probably be a 2:30 CST CBS game in the past. Not sure with ESPN coming on board. They generally spread out the games anyways so I imagine they won't have any major SEC game during RRSO. There might be Ole Miss vs. Kentucky on SEC Network or something like that.

RRS will still be at 11am.. I preferred the 2:30pm kickoff like in (2018), but I'm sure the conference kicks off that day with it at 11

The City of Dallas requires that this game is concluded by 'Sundown'
So there are really only 2 time slots it can fit in,.

City of Dallas can suck it, y’all in the SEC now, they’ll make y’all play somewhere else if Dallas don’t like it.

which i'm cool with.. I know lots of people love to talk about it being in a primetime slot but I've always enjoyed it in the morning.. it's the other actual home games that start at 11 that grinds my gears

I'm going to have to agree with Dallas here.
You don't want to play this game at night.

It gives everyone too much time to drink before the game

lol @ u thinking the SEC is gonna make them move this game to a primetime slot.. They gotta come hat in hand for a request like that to the office in Austin

@CoalTrain is just messing with you. They won't move it.

Hell they moved Arkansas and Texas A&M to an annual game to Arlington. Florida-Georgia is in Jacksonville. They are definitely not moving this game.

SEC wants this game in its original state. It could move back to 2:30 just because that is the prime time for big SEC Matchups.

Yea I mess with em every year over that time slot. If it’s ME in charge I move it to their campus home n home and put it in prime slot because it’s worthy of that but I get the tradition side of it too.

Dude,

11am is when scrub games kick off. You will get the 2:30 slot or a Prime Time slot.

Welcome to the big leagues….you’re welcome.

TBH most neutral games are dumb.. I never understood the Arkansas/aggy one in Dallas.. it's just a moneygrab.. I bet most of the fans on both sides rather have it home and home.

Possibly. Sometimes it is to just get it into a better stadium. Vandy plays Tennessee often at the Titan's Stadium because it is nicer than the Vandy stadium.

Arkansas likely wanted the game in Texas annually for recruiting purposes and A&M probably likes game in Arlington as well. It was likely a win/win for both schools.

BTW, get ready for Arkansas. I think they will probably give you more headaches than any other new opponent on your schedule. I know they are biting at the chomps to play Texas again on a regular basis. Last year was a good example.

They really have nothing to lose against you which makes them a scary annual opponent.

I do agree, I don’t think the SEC, well it’s tv partners will be ok playing that game in the scrub slot. Dallas is too pussified to play it at night like it should be so I’d say that afternoon spot is a given.
