I'm just pretty much convinced Jim Harbaugh can't develop QBs. It's not like I'm shocked by the McCaffrey news - but at some point it's just not Brady Hoke's fault anymore.

Michigan has had running QBs, drop back passers, guys with rocket arms, sleepers, five stars, transfers... one constant throughout all of it; no QB Jim Harbaugh has ever coached has ever gotten even a little better at Michigan over multiple seasons - some of them regressed.

Another QB that Harbaugh recruited not panning out in Ann Arbor.

Harbaugh's whole tenure at Michigan has been a flop

The hilarious sentiment coming in is that he was going to be able to "HAND PICK!" any recruits that he wanted.......it's really been anything but that. Lol. I guess unless you want to count hand picking 3 stars

We will really see what he does "with his guys" this season. Replacing almost the whole starting lineup with the last 3 recruiting classes. There is no putting it on anyone but him anymore.

It is kinda surprising, he has had good teams just missing a great QB

He needs put the sleep overs into overdrive.

Just needs to find a freshman to groom for 4 years. Not be too good to leave early, but good enough to win most of the games and a few big ones. You know a 2nd Tom Brady, John Navarre, Drew Henson (not necessarily fits this mold), Brian Griese, and Chad Henne.

We haven’t missed at QB in almost two decades. But they already knew that.

correct breaking bad GIF

I still blame Kaepernick. Yeah Alex Smith played for Urban, but in the NFL his career was just about over until Harbaugh brought him back to life. Then he gets Wally Pipped and Kaepernick explodes only to fall back to earth in the Super Bowl. He never recovers and it is my belief that Harbaugh is so damn stubborn that he's going to make a Kaepernick like QB work. It's time to go look for an Alex Smith type or heck a Griese, Brady, Henson, Navarre, Henne type. He had that with Rudock somewhat and lesser extent Speight.

Well he did coach the GOAT in Andrew Luck.

he’s decided they aren’t as cuddly as kickers?

I'm not sure what the issue is -- yet. This happens all the time at major programs. McCaffrey and Milton both came in in the 2017 class as 4 star recruits. McCaffrey had coaches as parents so was a pretty polished recruit. Milton had clearly more raw talent but needed coaching. Both redshirted and then McCaffrey was Shea's backup, playing OK - sometimes really well - when inserted into games. But, from all accounts Milton took the last 3 years and developed, beating out McCaffrey for the (now open) starting spot. Rather than wait to see what happens, McCaffrey is taking his ball and going home. OSU lost Joe Burrow this way. Alabama has lost a bunch of QB's that way. When kids who came in as highly rated recruits get beat out for starting spots, there's a good chance they leave.

To me, this actually seems like a positive development on the Harbaugh developing QBs front. If Milton beat out McCaffrey, and McCaffrey played well when in games...this seems good, and like we finally might have a decent QB on our hands?

Guy has been a flop. End of the discussion

The QB position is a position you have to manage with kid gloves. Harbaugh is in year 6 and he hasn't done it yet. In fact, his QBs regress the longer he has them. That tells you all you need to know.
