I have told the story before, but years ago my girlfriend asked me what celeb I would like to have dinner with. Off the bat, I didn't know, I don't have a real desire to meet any celeb, I don't care about that. But after some thinking, I told her Robin Williams. She got a look on her face and thought that was a weird pick, I think she was expecting someone more hip and mainstream at that current moment (this was like 2012 or so). Unfortunately, as rare as it may have been, that opportunity no longer exists. Robin Williams always struck me as such a nice guy that just wanted to make people smile, he did that for me a lot in my childhood.

RIP.

EDIT: Just saw the date, but it just came across my feed for some reason. Nonetheless, never a bad time to honor one of the greats.

Looking back, pretty sure all that entertainment he offered up to us. The roles, the standup, the interviews(I made sure to watch if he was on Leno or Letterman or whatever) were his constant coping mechanism.

He functioned on a higher plane than the rest of us. And that had to get lonely.

It’ll be seven years he’s been gone this summer. Doesn’t seem like it. His light still shines.

I always felt for the guy. He seemed like he always felt he had to be “on.” I often wonder if that is what broke him. But who can really know or understand why people commit suicide

Had no idea you were once married to a dude, OP.

That was always the way I read it in hindsight. His shtick was him coping. But, not just the zany craziness of his comedy side.....I think he found coping in the dramatic acting too, and that could be part of what drove him to be a surprisingly amazing dramatic actor as well.

His issues with alcoholism and depression were known, and he spoke freely about them. But, that it was to the level of an eventual suicide was never clear to me anyway. But, I kind of read it as he just couldn’t hide it with coping anymore. And that was as far as I was willing to apply logic and reasoning to it.

I bet you're funnier than all of your imaginary friends.

I don't care about that. You are derailing a thread and didn't have the care to do with style. If you were funny, we wouldn't be having this conversation. Instead, you picked the low hanging fruit and ran with it like a child.

It is the title of the article linked. Seems befitting to title a thread with the title of the article shared. You just aren't creative enough to be funny. But hey, you tried.

Yeah, everyone else is responding in kind, but you.... you think its stupid and thus enjoy spending your time in stupid places talking about stupid things. Perhaps a life worth sharing is what you need.

I know reading can be difficult, but I said "everyone else", that means people that have responded other than you. You acting like it matters if a thread is 10, 20, 30 pages... lol how pathetic your life must be if that is the shit you care about. People are choosing to pay respects for someone that likely had some sort of impact on their childhood, but please enlighten us more with your bountiful wit and humor.

As for the mocking, who gives a shit, you're pissy because you thought you were being funny and it failed and you were made aware. Suck it up buttercup, I figured you would have known by now. You average like 63 posts a day, I figured someone would have told you or you could have figured it out on your own.

I was just trying to be thorough, hoping you'd understand. Although looking back, you are probably just responding at this point to get that post count up amirite

I read maybe the first few words.

I don't care.
