Cubs were pretty damn good the second half of last season. I don’t think they’re playoff bound this year, but with there being like a million wildcard teams now, I wouldn’t write em off just yet

the NL Central isn't very good. Cardinals have a great group of position players and look like the early favorites, but their rotation is pretty suspect. Brewers rotation is very solid, but they struggled to score runs. Reds have some promising pitchers, but that lineup looks awful. The Pirates are the Pirates, not sure anything else needs to be said

Cubs aren't without their flaws of course (1B/3B/DH are pretty weak, the bullpen), but they're pretty solid in the middle infield and outfield, plus the rotation looks decent. Cubs probably need another star or some things to really break their way if they want to compete for the division, but I don't think it's unrealistic.

The Cardinals got their final piece of the puzzle yesterday when they picked up some guy i never heard of so they can demote a dude on his birthday.
