In last nights Yankees-Rangers game, Severino had a no hitter going, and was pulledin the 7th based solely
on pitch count. Boone admitted Severino still had his stuff but pulled him anyway. The reliever came in and
gave up a run and two hits immediately.

I get the reasoning behind pitch counts and usually, for most it's ok, but managers need to start using some judgement
and not do everything soley on metrics. I'd be pissed if I were Severino.

Bring back the good steroids and it won’t be an issue. Roger Clemens was throwing heat for like 25 years

Nolan Ryan was throwing heat into his late 40s without juicing. Point being, Severino was fine, he wasn't tired, his stuff wasn't
going down, he was still dominating. They pulled him because of some arbitrary number on a piece of paper.

Same thing a couple of years ago when Cash pulled Snell in the World Series when he was dominating.

Severino has pitched a total of 29.2 innings in the last 3 seasons. Seems like they have a plan for him this year, as they should following that history.

Nolan had that good advil though.

Ready to throw another nine innings.

He has barely thrown the past three seasons though. I suspect that they do not want to push him too much this year in any manner, for that reason. That seems like a reasonable plan to me.

I get it, but at the same time, if a guy is pitching a no-hitter, and still bringing it, you let him keep going.

Still threw 85 in his 60's.

Just watched "Facing Nolan" on Netflix, really good documentary.

Not only does he have injury problems.

But the game(winning it) was literally meaningless for the Yanks and the playoffs for them start in a week.

No hitters are cool but no need to risk it. Perfect game? I may say let him finish it.

Fo sho.

Particularly if it’s during an early October game that is absolutely meaningless for both teams.

Don’t spare the horses. Win that game.

I'd love to see a study on how pitchers injuries have improved or not since they started babying them. It really doesn't seem like it has extended careers or lessened injuries.
