I've got Ellis Johnson at Southern Miss

2011 Southern Miss went 12-2, won conference USA including blowing out 7th ranked, undefeated Houston in the CUSA CCG under Larry Fedora.

2012 after Fedora went to UNC, Southern Miss hired Ellis Johnson. They went 0-12. Johnson was obviously one and done.

I've been wondering what West Virginia sees in Neal Brown

Seemingly just another successful G5 HC to put on the pile of fail at the P5 HC level.

Not sure which pile of fail is bigger....... G5 HC's to P5 HC, or P5 Coordinators to P5 HC.

They're all a crapshoot. The chances of one meeting the hype expectations are slim. Like <5% slim to be generous.

I was sold on Neal Brown. I wouldn't throw in the towel on him just yet. To his credit he's outperforming the Scott Frost and Charlie Strong types.

Too many schools are concerned about the perception and image of their hire. Guys at some D-III schools are probably better than either but they ain’t high profile or sexy enough

Or "Their Guy" like Brady Hoke at Michigan or Scott Frost at Nebraska.

Howard Schnellenberger at Oklahoma. A total POS who failed on every level. Fired after 1 season.

Tyrone Willingham at Washington was pretty bad.

11-37.

He honed his suckitude skills while at ND.

Gerry Faust was pretty shitty. But I don't think I've disliked an ND coach more than I did fat ass Weis.
Yeah I was running out of room or I would have included him. By all accounts though, Faust was regarded as a decent and well liked man. He was just really in over his head and the AD that thought it was a good idea to hire a HS coach to the job deserves the blame for that one.

Weis, Willingham and Davie were each shitty in their own unique way. Weis’s arrogance and unwavering belief that NFL coaching methods translate well to college kids. He thought he could out scheme everyone rather than teach fundamentals. For as much talent as he had his teams were notoriously soft.

Willingham was an even lazier recruiter than Kelly. And Mike Goolsby has spoken about his poor leadership skills on Blue & Gold podcast.

Davie was a conniving weasel and apparently helped push Holtz out the door.

Maybe not the worst, but falls under 'what were they thinking'.......

Washington hires Willingham
UCLA hires Rick Neuheisel
