Seems like the ACC and B12 are pretty set on the 5+11 model (5 highest conference champs, 11 at-larges)

B1G wants the 4+4+2+2+1+3 model (4 for the B1G/SEC, 2 for the ACC/B12, 1 G5, 3 at-larges)

The 4+4+2.5+2.5+1+2 would be the same as above, only the B12/ACC would have their 3rd place teams have a play in game, and there would be one less at-large.

SEC seems to have not put out a stance yet. Although, I believe most SEC coaches prefer 5+11.

ok this gets tricky but here goes based on last years final playoff rankings 5-11

1. Oregon(champ) vs 16. Clemson (champ)
8. Indiana vs 9. Boise (champ)
4. Penn State vs 13. Miami
5. ND vs 12. Arizona State (champ)

2. UGA (champ) vs 15. South Carolina
7. Tenn vs 10 SMU
3. Texas vs 14. Ole Miss
6. Ohio State vs 11 Alabama

4+4+2+2+1+3 Only real change was BYU from outside top 16 gets Big XII second bid moving clemson up 1 spot and South Carolina out

1. Oregon(champ) vs 16. BYU
8. Indiana vs 9. Boise (champ)
4. Penn State vs 13. Miami
5. ND vs 12. Arizona State (champ)

2. UGA (champ) vs 15. Clemson (champ)
7. Tenn vs 10 SMU
3. Texas vs 14. Ole Miss
6. Ohio State vs 11 Alabama

4+4+2.5+2.5+1+2

heres one of the weird ones both BYU and Iowa State were outside BYU ended up ranked 1 spot higher than Big XII runner up Iowa State so does that make the play in game Miami vs BYU and Iowa State gets the second bid? with straight seeding does that mean if Miami wins they keep 13 but if BYU wins they play for 16th seed?

1. Oregon vs 16. Iowa State
8. Indiana vs 9. Boise
4. Penn State vs 13. Miami
5. ND vs 12. Arizona State

2. UGA ) vs 15. Clemson
7. Tenn vs 10 SMU
3. Texas vs 14. Ole Miss
6. Ohio State vs 11 Alabama

South Carolina falls out. BYU doesnt get in Iowa State gets in.

If BYU won it would be

1. Oregon vs 16. BYU
8. Indiana vs 9. Boise
4. Penn State vs 13. Ole Miss
5. ND vs 12. Arizona State

2. UGA vs 15. Iowa State
7. Tenn vs 10 SMU
3. Texas vs 14. Clemson
6. Ohio State vs 11 Alabama

South Carolina out. Ole miss to 13 Clemson up to 14. Iowa State at 15 BYU at 16

I'm fine with 5+11, but do away with the auto-byes. Should be the top 4 teams get byes.

5 + 11 seems the fairest, even with the mega conferences

another option i saw somewhere probably just some rando but nonetheless it was P4 Champs and runners up G5 champ 7 at large.
which would be

1. Oregon(champ) vs 16. Iowa State RU
8. Indiana vs 9. Boise (champ)
4. Penn State RU vs 13. Miami
5. ND vs 12. Arizona State (champ)

2. UGA (champ) vs 15. Clemson (champ)
7. Tenn vs 10 SMU RU
3. Texas RU vs 14. Ole Miss
6. Ohio State vs 11 Alabama

SC out Clemson up to 15 and Iowa State in 16

for the most part the runners up will likely be in mostly anyway

It's my understanding the top 4 would still receive a bye in the 16 team format.

first round games all played on campus.
second round and semis at NY6

?????

how exactly

Sorry. I misspoke. The top 2 would receive a double bye.

Round 1:

No. 16 Clemson vs. No. 13 Miami
No. 15 South Carolina vs. No. 14 Ole Miss

Round 2:

No. 9 Boise State vs. No. 8 Indiana
No. 12 Arizona State vs. No. 5 Notre Dame
No. 15/14 winner vs. No. 4 Penn State
No. 10 SMU vs. No. 7 Tennessee
No. 11 Alabama vs. No. 6 Ohio State
No. 16/13 winner vs. No. 3 Texas

^based on 2024 with straight seeding with #1 Oregon and #2 UGA getting double byes.

I can't see them doing a double bye. That's ridiculous.

But, if you look at the brackets above, the idea that UGA would play Clemson or USCjr, while others play BSU, ASU, or SMU, that just isn't right. That is where the seednig will come into play. Because right now if I am UGA playing Clemson/USC instead of BSU or ASU, that's BS in my mind.

You wouldn't be playing Clemson or South Carolina. You'd be playing the winner of SMU/Tennessee in this hypothetical situation. UGA would have had a bye until the Qtrs.

I was just looking at what was posted above.

I can't imagine they aren't doing double byes. I read the same articles, but practically I can't see them adding more weekends and games, especially how that everyone will be playing on championship weekend.

In 14, they were going to do 2 byes, 12 play down to 6, add the two bye teams back in.

I'm thinking they go straight seeds, with SOS considered more. I would guess USCjr would be higher than BSU, ASU, or maybe SMU.

The 5+11 makes the most sense to me, but it leaves way too much money on the table. In the end, they will have to do with what makes the most money.

Yeah, but what was posted above indicates that UGA would play the winner of SMU/Tennessee.

If they go to 16, they are going to have to play those 1st round games the weekend of Army/Navy to keep everything else on track and keep the rest of the schedule like it was this past season. Teams seeded 3 and 4 would just have to play that weekend now.
