Kid read Tom Sawyer for English this year. This was one of those assignments where the parent had to recommend a book that meant something to them.

I had him so this one instead of Huck Finn due to being the first of the two. He can get Huck next year, which is the better and more serious story IMO.

I don't know how "woke" it is, but the new book James has been getting some good reviews.

Necrom - Mick Farren

A bitter burned out rock ‘n’ roll bad boy finds himself trapped in a nightmare, odyssey through dimensions, pursued by renegade demons and otherworldly death merchants. An ancient evil has awoken.

Decent read. My cup of tea.

Biography of Syd Barrett?

The Last Kind Words Saloon - McMurtry

Last little while of Wyatt and Doc...

Coffin Road - Peter May

I have not read him before, but he’s got quite a few books, including a couple trilogies.
He’s a Scottish author, and the stories seem to take place in the Outer Hebrides.
And mysteries, not sci-fi.

Age of Vice by Deepti Kapoor

something a little different but it's good. There's some darkness to the story that has me really invested in it so far.

I looked it up. Sounds interesting.

Finished reading Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. Excellent sci fi tale. Well worth your time. They're making it into a movie as well.
I read it when it came out, it was awesome.

I heard the audiobook is very well done as well
