Fisher = Sumlin?

Stronger now? Have you paid attention to the SEC West? Every school except Bama and A&M have replaced a coach in the last 2/3 years. The last 2 years have been the worst the West has been in at least a decade

In 2013 the SEC Championship was Missouri vs. Auburn. Yes, I think the SEC is stronger now, not even close.

That is an amazing stupid reply. Auburn finished #2 and Missouri finished #5. SEC had 4 teams in the top 10 and 3 in the top 5. Surprised an Oregon fan would be such a name whore

its about the same, tbh.

In 2012, the SEC had five top 10 teams. The SEC West had 3 top 15 teams.
In 2013, the SEC had 4 top 10 teams. The SEC West had 3 top 15 teams and an additional team that finished #18.
In 2014, the SEC had had 2 top 10 teams. The SEC West had 4 top 25 teams.

In 2019, the SEC had 4 top 10 teams. The SEC West had 3 top 15 teams.
In 2020, the SEC had 3 top 10 teams. The SEC West had 2 top 25 teams.
In 2021, the SEC had 2 top 10 teams. The SEC West had 3 top 25 teams.

if anything, the SEC was better then than it is now.

It’s simple
LSU is a mess and rebuilding
Auburn is a mess
MissState- trying to get back, Pirates second season. TBD
Ole Miss- had good year, but coming off a train wreck after the infractions. TBD
Arkansas- had its first solid year in forever with a 2nd year coach. TBD

Only Alabama was running near its ceiling last year. Just been a lot of turnover in coaching in the West over the last few years. The East is improving after years of being the red headed step child. We shall see how it turns out. This is the first time since Florida and Tenn were running the SEC, that you can not say the West was or will certainly be better than the East.

I also think the SEC is stronger now than it was during the early years of the Sumlin era at ATM.

Yeah, uh, I’m gonna have to sort of disagree with you there.

I mean, even Vandypants was pretty decent back then. Seriously.

Since Jimbo got to Texas A&M, 3 different SEC programs have won a national title (4 seasons).

While Sumlin was there, only Alabama did (6 seasons).

😂 So?? LMFAO what do you think that proves?

That the top of the SEC is stronger now than it was when Sumlin was there. The proof being that teams other than Alabama are winning titles.

Lol it doesn't prove that tho...it proves Alabama hasn't been as dominant and nothing else

Ok that's your interpretation
No it's not an interpretation, it's an objective fact. It only proves bama not being dominant, nothing else

Yeah because 2019 LSU wasn't a dominant team...good point

Look at the coaches they replaced them with … Kiffen, the Pirate, Kelley, Pittman. Not saying the west isn’t down, but it’s not the new coaching.

Yet to see how they work out. None have had continued success. The reason you replace coaches is because of the prior results. Think last year Arkansas won its first SEC game in 2 years. Not loving the fit of the Pirate or Kelley. Will be interesting to watch how those play out

Arkansas won a handful of SEC games in 2020. I don’t disagree with what you’re saying, but Arky didn’t break a 2 year conference winning streak last year

I don’t think there’s any real debate that the SEC as a whole was stronger in the early 10’s than it has been the last few years. Maybe more top heavy, but as a whole, nah.

Program by program comparison

UGA- better now, still solid back then though
Florida- about the same
South Carolina- they were a consistent top 10 team back then, they’re happy to make a bowl now
Tennessee- about the same
Vandy- they’re basically Kansas now, they were bowling consistently back then
Kentucky- better now for sure
Missouri- A LOT better back then

Alabama- More dominant back then, still a major force though
Auburn-They played for a natty back then, mediocre today
Ole Miss- Kiffin has em on the right track, but they were better in the e Freeze years
Miss State- about the same
LSU- outside of one amazing year, they were a program back then
Arkansas- They had an all around shitty decade, but they were top 5 in 2011
A&M- better back then

A&M wasn't better when we joined the SEC, JFF was better and we rode his coattails. But our defense is magnitudes better now and the team is more rounded out. Can't speak to the rest of the SEC at that time. I don't think it is very even right now. The top 2 are stellar and the rest is lukewarm at best.

2012 was A&M’s best season in the SEC. UGA fell about 5 yards short of playing for and likely winning a natty in 2012, and I wouldn’t have wanted to play that A&M team. If I see A&M on the schedule now, it would be about the same as seeing Kentucky or Miss State on the schedule
