TV Series Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi

They should have just started with the second episode. Leía is annoying.
Feels too much like Mandalorian. Doesn’t have its own feel. It’s obi wan. It should feel different.

It is only 2 eps in. Of course it doesn’t have its own voice yet.

But the first 2 eps were kinda dull. Mandalorian had the entire fan base hooked after its first episode. This show is still meandering around aimlessly after 2 episodes.

what is it about Jedi bring massive quitters. Obi Wan is just like sequel Luke. He’s looking after kid Luke but is so rusty in the force that he can barely fight off normal opponents.

Kinda the point. He is in isolation, working at a packing plant, not keeping up with his training. All while keeping watch on one of the most important targets in the empire and avoid his former brothers and sisters who have thrown in with the bad guy.

Yeah but what good is it if he’s unable to fend them off.

Maybe its because I set expectations a little low because I didn't see much need for an Obi Wan tale but I thought this was awesome. It helps that McGregor kills it in the role but this is starting out as a good series.

What a great first couple of episodes

Yes, Leia is annoying but that's the point. You can easily see Anakin and Padme in her, especially their Clone Wars versions. And Leia was already sassy in IV so it makes sense why she would be that was as a kid.

At the very least I just hope everyone is better towards kid her and Luke's actors than towards Jake Lloyd.

People complaining are just the types that want to complain about shit. She is very much Leia. Adult version of Leia has sass and wit and is very driven. You get all of that here with her as a kid.

I was fine with them making Obi-Wan this considering everything he's lost since Episode I while probably feeling at least some responsibility and failure. It's making Luke that way that was the issue, Obi-Wan might be that exhausted old hermit but he at least seems to remember his mission whereas Luke just straight gave up.

Luke lost his faith in the “light side”. And he never really received a proper full training. He was a Master because, well, he was the only Jedi left in the Galaxy. He tried to reestablish the order, and he failed miserably. Luke, end of the day, was a failure of a Jedi.

I have always felt that Luke was NOT the main character of the franchise. I rate him at #3 AT BEST (probably further down than that). Palpatine and Anakin are much more important to the overall story. Anakin was the Chosen One. He was the one who brought balance to the Force (he wiped out both the Jedi AND the Sith - that is balance). Luke was just Anakin’s son who swept up some of the mess in Anakin’s wake.

As for Obi-wan, he wasn’t as powerful a Jedi 10 years after the events of Ep3, but he was still able to get the job done. He watched Luke, but was unable/unwilling to train him. Part of that is his lack of confidence after what happened with Anakin, but it is also due to Owen and Baru’s wishes that he stay away.

I posted something similar to this a number of years back, but I think it is a fun exercise…

The top characters in the SW franchise (based on import to the story/import to the in-franchise galaxy)…

1) Anakin (The Chosen One. He brought the prophesied “balance” to the Force as he abolished both the Jedi and the Sith.)
2) Palpatine (Not only was he one of the most powerful Sith Lords ever, he was also the Emporor of the Galaxy and MAYBE Anakin’s father.)

3) Luke (The perceived “Chosen One” after Anakin’s turn to the Dark Side by those who believed “balance” meant “my side wins entirely”.)
4) Yoda (The last leader of the Jedi Council. Supervised Anakin’s training and “finished” Luke’s training. As a Force Ghost, he may have preserved the Jedi literature from Luke’s destructive intent)
5) Ahsoka (Her break from the Jedi Order may ultimately be the saving act of the Light Side. She recognized that strict adherence to either Light or Dark is dangerous, and balance should be internal. She may ultimately end up usurping Anakin as the true Chosen One)

6) Leia (She succeeded Mon Mothma as the leader of the resistance. She was also a very strong Force user, but never received extensive training)

7) JarJar (Was the driving force allowing Palpatine to take control of the Imperial Senate and ultimately become Emporor. I still believe he was the true Phantom Menace, and likely Palpatine‘s true apprentice)

Everyone else is in a substantially lower tier than these characters. But there is a huge drop off between Palpatine and Luke, imho.

How about Han Solo?

This series is way too sterile… like most of Star Wars.

So far I like it. At first I was like wtf is this kidnapping shit and then realized duh, how else would they draw obi wan out of hiding so it plays well.

I'm not to excited about seeing the grand inquisitor already getting wacked and in such a weak ass manner. Now i haven't seen rebels or bad batch so I'm not up to speed on how powerful the inquisitors are but if he was the top guy, yeah he went down like a bitch.

Reva revealing that lord Vader is anakin doesn't sit well with me. That wasn't exactly common knowledge and only a handful of people knew the truth and I don't see Vader telling her. Maybe they'll explain later but I don't have my hopes up. I think that was an oversight by the writers who just said fuck it and put it in.

Overall I enjoyed it and the ending of 2 was cool as hell. Hope to see more Vader.
