Nebraska fans are known liars.
They are gracious winners but not so much as losers. They got used to it 50 years ago and to their credit were really awesome at being cool when kicking ass. The last 20 years, they haven't figured out that they are less Alabama and more Texas Tech and it's a struggle. I get it. I was a teenager during peak Osborne so if I was a Nebraska native I'd have seen my school be dominant, gone to college with a Heisman winner and saw it fall apart in my 20's to the point where I supported a change in conference affiliation. Now in my 40's we aren't worried about making the cut to the breakaway from the NCAA but despite our history we are about to be an opponent other schools want to schedule early for an easy win.
As someone who actually would love to have his school just make the cut I'd be perfectly fine being in that position. Option B is basically being in the FCS and although part of me wouldn't mind being a big fish in a small pond I'd rather my school find a way into the big boys table. For someone who spent decades at it only to realize they are now the fish instead of the shark, that's a tough realization to have.
