TV Series Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi

Why does Vader seem to have no interest in Leia though? Like he has to know they’re using her as bait… you’d think if he can sense Obiwan’s presence he’d sure as fuck know she’s around… how is getting his kids in no way a priority? always found that to be a pretty big plot hole in the original trilogy too. Like, he has Leia captured, blows up her planet, wants to get info from her, but otherwise is all like “whatevs.” Obviously they hadn’t worked out Luke and Leia being his kids yet in a new hope… but Jesus. We know he wanted Luke to join him, now they’re filling in all the gaps and have no interest in providing any reason he doesn’t want to reclaim his children to turn them into little Sith demons?

I mentioned earlier I accept all of it as corny stupid fun. Don’t care if everything doesn’t always line up with all the mythology. Couldn’t give a fuck if they made a couple of the movies without the scene wipes. And I couldn’t give any shits who shot first and whatever edits they want to make to the original movies. But the Vader and his children thing seems to be a pretty huge hole.
I'd bet the clouding of the dark side combined with being singularly-focused on only wanting Obi-Wan made it impossible to consider something he thought never could happen since pretty much everyone was fooled into thinking Padme died in child birth, especially with how hard he tried blocking out anything from his pre-Vader days. Palpatine in the old EU at least used to scold/punish him for being too obsessed and not looking at the bigger picture, which I actually think is why if anyone would feel their presence first it'd be him. Episode 4, though, yeah that is another story since Kenobi wouldn't have distracted him. But that's just me doing a nerdgasm to try to in-universe explain it.

The real reason is Lucas probably didn't have this as planned out as he claims and we've gotta shoehorn around that, of course.

Just watched episode 3 and well that took a dark turn

Also I guess we’re retconning Vader’s when I last saw you I was just the learner line from ANH because he manhandles Obi Wan pretty easily
Had that thought too, I bet they face-off again towards the finale. I would actually LOVE to see him getting his helmet whole or partially knocked off like he did with Ahsoka and we see Ewan and Hayden be face-to-face. Maybe Palpatine saves him again because I think he was rumored to be in it.

The thing about Sith is they don't really follow the rules. Parts of being bad and all. In the canon stuff and stuff that's been decanonized, they're constantly breaking that 2 rule stuff and doing their own thing.
Hell Palpatine in the old EU wasn't even in the Sith Master in Episode 1. Plageuis was still alive up until the day before Palpatine became chancellor. They got around it with Ventress by simply just calling her a Sith assassin and not a Sith lord at least.

So why did 3rd Sis decide to use Leia as bait anyway? I don’t really remember Bael and Obi wan being particular besties in the war. I would think they would go after Korkie Kryze before Leia. Maybe even Bo Katan.

Nothing shown, at least in any series that I can recall. She (and the show) just chalks it up to her doing offscreen research that Obi-Wan did some work with Bail. So with Bail being a high profile Senator with a young kid, she figured its worth a shot to see if the bait trap works.

Fair enough, but still a plot reach. Why go for a target that would be super-high profile? Why not go for the neighbor’s kid who is a bit slow? That kid could disappear for 2 days before the parents even realize they are missing.

Staying away from Korkie or Bo Katan could make sense, seeing as they are equally as high profile as Leia and come from a warrior world rather than a diplomatic world. But there were rumors about Korkies parentage, so he would have been a potentially better target. Leia was just a plot-better target.

so if fear is the path to the dark side how come Obi Wan is so afraid? Much fear I sense in him.

A path doesn't have to mean certainty. Or Yoda is full of shit. Take your pick

Didn’t love episode 3.

Lotta dumb shit going on in episode 4. Weakest episode by far

Appropriate it feels like the prequels again. There's some cool concepts:
-Reva's story could be used as a layered B plot if she really was at the Jedi Temple and is obsessed because she feels betrayed
-Ewan is doing his usual thing with Obi-Wan, this time with his completely confused and fractured mental state
-Leia does actually feel like a young Leia/kid of Anakin and Padme
-And of course the Vader/Kenobi dynamic

It just feels so let down by the writing and directing.

I don't dislike it necessarily just doesn't feel like it's hitting it's potential.

I heard a theory the other day that, while I am not a huge fan of it, it is an interesting thought…

Are they potentially using Reva to tell a Mara Jade story? She is kinda an apprentice to Vader, works for the dark side, will apparently have some kind of redemption/return to the light arc…. I think her age is a bit problematic, but they obviously will not do Mara EXACTLY, so having that age issue isn’t THAT big. Han and Leia are much more “icky” than Reva/Luke would be.

Those Skywalkers certainly do not stay age-appropriate with their mate selection. Padme/Anakin, Han/Leia, Luke/Reva (if they do that arc, which I honestly doubt)

I'm jizzed about this and Bad Batch but I question how this adds to cannon. I'll take an Obi Wan story any day but he spent 18 years dicking off on Tatooine and aside from him just shrugging and ending Maul 3 seconds into their fight this was a pretty boring part of his life.

The first meeting we got between him and Vader seemed really brief but after 40 years of retcon their relationship was beautiful and we don't really need another series exploring it. Hopefully the Vader and Obi arcs never interact unless it's a back in the day scene
Jizzed??

This is why in hindsight I really wish they didn't do any kind of sequels first. There's a lot of cool fan theories I've seen like this one whether it be with this show or others but it's all eventually going to have be shoe-horned into the sequel timeline. I know they've got 30 years to work with between 6 and 7 but knowing how it'll all eventually end up is kind of upsetting.

But I think this would be a very interesting idea because those parallels absolutely exist. Also if Reva really was a youngling during Order 66 she wouldn't be more than what like 10 years old than Luke so it could've conceivably worked even with their current assumed ages.

They showed her a youngling in the opening scene of ep 1. She looked maybe 12?
