RIP Outback Bowl

I found myself in an Outback Steakhouse a month or so ago. Will never happen again.

I'm not saying they used to be good, but they were adequate and you knew what you were getting. This meal was shit.
God I haven't been to one in like 15 years but that's disappointing because they were at least decent.

Fuck outback, probably been a decade since I swore to never return. Terrible service terrible quality food.

They have no standards.

Chain restaurants have struggled with staffing.

So many of the ones now either are woefully understaffed, or have people so undertrained/incompetent that they may as well be closed.

You just proclaimed that you dont know shit about what is good.

Good.

Seeing the same teams from the same confs’ every year gets kinda boring. Especially when the game isn’t even close most years.

Although my favorite Outback Bowl moment was probably UGA blowing a 16-0 lead vs MSU. Spartans won in OT, 33-30.

Bowl tie-ins are so fucking stupid.

they are just renaming it bro

it isn't going anywhere

Everything outside of the CFP are exhibition games letting you see what next year brings.
With everyone sitting out, that's just the reality.

It's just a preview of next year.
It means nothing at all.

We quit dining out when we figured out they had too many Chinese making Mexican food and Mexicans making Chinese food.

Replace outback with any chain restaurant that was big in the late 90’s and this statement remains true.

Wait, but Applebees, Chilis, Olive Garden, Buffalo Wild Wings all upheld the test of time.

100% true. We went to a Chili’s recently and I appreciated what they did. The manager met us up front and before he seated us he said, We’re struggling because we are short staffed in the kitchen and out front. We can seat you but it may take longer than either of us like. Would you still like to be seated?”

We had plenty of time so we said yes. Things weren’t totally smooth but they were working at it. Food was actually fine and service wasn’t as bad as I’ve had when places were fully staffed.

He let us know up front what the deal was. Others should do likewise.
