Cards lose a no hitter with 2 strikes 2 out in the ninth

I guess it’s different with a no hitter on the line, but generally with an 8 run lead with one out to end the game, you play so nothing gets over your head.

Yep, I was specifically thinking about increasing the odds of getting the no-hitter in that situation. Double or triple really ain't "worse" for the Cards than a single there since 8 guys need to come around anyway. While it is used somewhat universally I think that "Nothing over your head" probably has more of an effect on winning with less of a lead and/or men on base.

You could argue they had less, but you can’t argue they did more when Wash was the manager for back to back World Series appearances, which are the only two in franchise history. They definitely didn’t do more
Their ceiling wasn't WS, Wash's teams were.

he isn't old enough to know who Willie McGee is.
Chip Caray talks about Willie McGee every time there’s a stolen base when we play the Cardinals. I never saw him play, but I know who he is

If you say so. $20 vcash say you didn't watch a single Ranger game from either of those years except maybe a playoff game or two.
I watched a few to check out what we gave up in the Teixeira trade

To see all that talent that Wash was handed and asked not to screw it up, and screw it up he did.
I watched a man lead a rag tag group of misfits on a team that was in full rebuild mode not long prior to back to back World Series appearances.

Yup, and you watched Wash sit on the sideline and stay out of the way.

This is the first thing that popped up when I did a search for rag tag group of misfits:

The Losers

Among the most popular characters from this corner of DC lore are The Losers, a ragtag group of misfits that operated during World War II. The original incarnation of The Losers (not to be confused with the Vertigo incarnation that inspired the 2010 live-action movie) have now earned the honor of leading their own DC Showcase animated short.

I’m not much on comics

Mets fans hated Terry Collins after losing the 2015 WS too. Look at them since they fired Collins. They’re looking good right now, but everyone knows the annual Mets collapse is coming

It can't come soon enough.

It can't come soon enough.
Patience. The later it happens, the more satisfying it is. But I’ll forever hate the Padres for overshadowing the Mets collapse last season

That’s how much they miss his leadership. I give Wash more credit than Snit for the 2021 WS win
Cool, probably like The Clear should get all the credit for Glavine and Smoltz.
