USC and UCLA planning to leave for B10 by 2024!

Football won't be a big deal just a little more time on a jet. basketball however... that can get rough in a hurry on the teams involved. I know the Big12 has tried to work with WVU's basketball team to try n keep the travel schedule as easy on them as possible by trying to keep back to bacl road games at a minimum but there is only so much you can do.

True. Fewer games and there is only 1 a week for football

Basketball has more games and usually has at least 2 per week. I hadn't thought of that. It'll be interesting to see how they work that out.

Hardly ever gets to those weather conditions in November in OH, MI & WI. MN is another story though, but still not that cold. It will be interesting to see how they schedule these games. I know that when USC plays ND in South Bend it is always in October, don't think they have even been to ND in mid/late November.
What do I know -- I've only lived in Michigan basically my entire life. The average temp is around 40, but the lows for every single city in Southeast Michigan for November, where Ann Arbor is located is 0 or below zero. And the average temp and low temps do not factor in wind chill -- which anyone who lives in the Midwest can tell you -- it can say it is 20 degrees, but it feels a hell of a lot colder.

I have a home in Oregon and spend a lot of time in Washington too. Neither of those states are "cold". You need to spend some time during winter in Nebraska, Minnesota, Michigan, etc. That's "cold".

LA kids consider that "cold"

This isn’t true. If there is no Bama then Georgia, LSU and Auburn have at least one more natty and probably Florida. You are grossly underestimating how close some of these other teams were to breaking through.
I think it is the other way around -- SEC fans grossly overestimate their own. Auburn won a title when they paid for a freak QB. LSU won a title when they had the #1 pick in the NFL draft transfer to their school, because Nebraska is clueless and didn't want him (that's where he wanted to go).

The SEC is Bama, Georgia -- Move down A TON and then everyone else riding their coat tails. Hell -- you have Tennessee fans in this thread trying to talk like they are elite. If you talk to SEC fans enough -- they will tell you the entire conference is elite with the exception of Vandy. :beer2:

The people dismissing the ACC GOR haven't been able to point to a single thing they would hang their hat on. Even the sports writers are all saying the same thing ... the lawyers would keep busy. But that doesn't mean they would win.

The bad thing about the GOR is that (1) all the teams that signed it are sophisticated entities with a truckload of lawyers who signed off on it, and (2) it is doing exactly what they intended it to do - keep people from leaving the conference, it's just they now want to leave. You can't suddenly say we want out of it because it's working. Sorry, with 14 years to go on it there will be no beating the GOR.

The only logical argument I have seen is what if the entire conference moves on, or a majority, such that it can't survive. Who then gets the GOR money.

Finally, my friend @Thiefery has LOL'd on more than one occasion at the GOR. Yet, I've asked him several times why, if the GOR is so easy to beat, that his team who has more money than god hasn't beaten the B12 GOR. Nary a response to that.
IIRC you and I have went over that topic before with some folks and to my knowledge (and yours too IIRC) there is not a single case of a GOR being beaten in the sports/entertainment world. The only wildcard I can see here is ESPN and them having both parties under control. IMO if ESPN thinks that long term having _______ from the ACC in the SEC is going to benefit them and keep them in line with the BIG then they are going to make that happen even if it costs them the ACC which... without a select few programs isnt all that different than the ones that are left behind already. Very very interesting stuff right now.

It's not like they'll only be playing in those temps for only 1 game every once in awhile. It'll be a bit of a shock for the first team that plays in that weather the first couple of times and each year, the freshmen will get a bit of a shock. Once they've done it a couple of times, they'll learn how to deal with it.
Here is your issue -- you can't emulate that in practice. Are you going to turn the AC on high in the practice facility? Unless you are in it for an extended period of time -- you never get used to it.

TONS of people move from the Midwest to the South for the warmer climate. Once they've lived there, they are putting sweatshirts on when it is 60 and 70 out. In the Midwest -- you are wearing shorts and flip flops when the weather breaks and hits 40-50 degrees.

There are days in the Midwest where it will hurt your face just to be outside because of the wind and cold. Now have one of these days happen when you have to play football and you only ever deal with 70 degree and up. It isn't just a shock -- it will be down right miserable for those kids.

I call BS on this. I live on the IN & MI border. the lows do not get to zero in November. Here is weather data for Ann Arbor

Wind chills at not below zero in November
I literally said the average temp is the 40's, but even your graph shows the average low is 30 degrees. If you have a 20 mph wind, which is extremely common in the fall and winter months -- using just the average low of 30 degrees feel like 10-15 degrees. Say it is 20 degrees out with a 20 mph wind -- the wind chill would make it feel like it is 1 or 2 degrees outside.

For someone who lives on the Michigan/Indiana border -- that this needs to be explained to you is bizarre.

It’s a fact without Bama that LSU and Georgia would have another title because they played Bama in the final. Florida came close to taking Baja’s spot when they had Trask. Auburn won one and was 10 seconds and one play from another.

Tell yourself whatever it takes to help you sleep but even if Bama falls it won’t be someone in another conference taking their place.

Anyone who watches college football knows if Bama falls -- Georgia is going to become the Bama of the SEC. Not difficult to see that.

But tell everyone about the what if's for Auburn, while you averaged 5 losses over the last 8 years. I'm sure you will more excuses on why that is. I'd give Auburn more credit, but all they really did was buy a QB. So not impressed unless you find another Cam Newton.

Florida has a legit shot, as they have a TON of talent in the state and no school in Florida has been good lately. If they find a coach -- they could become elite again.

In the end though -- It is Bama............then Georgia................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................then the rest of the SEC riding their coattails.

There aren’t college football games during winter in any of those states.

Thanksgiving weekend is the last of football, and it’s 55 as often as it’s 35.

And that’s rivalry week anyway. Nobody is going to playing this on frozen tundra unless the regular season creeps another month. Which it will, if there’s money to be made.

Outside of 2012, everything else is debateable.

LSU-OKST in 2011 & UF-Texas in 2009 definitely would've been fun to see. And UGA choking in 2017 is a wash since OU choked in Pasadena the week prior.

Grant of Rights
Basically the BigXII teams signed an agreement that gave all their media rights away (even if they changed conferences).
Where are we?

I just got booted from steelparrots thread back at EuroHoop and I was trying to talk shit to you. Lol
