OK. This Expansion Stuff & Away Games

How much would time zone change affect the players? Southern Cal to Washington just "feels" a lot shorter than Southern Cal to Rutgers.
I don't think there will be much if any effect. Teams play anytime from 11 am kickoffs to Pimetime games now

Now, I am not the smartest guy out there. I follow pretty much everything college football. It is my favorite sport, hobby, interest, etc. I know this expansion stuff is all money related. One thing that came to mind: what about away games? Where I live, I can be at UVA, UNC, NC State, Wake Forest, and Duke in less than two hours. Virginia Tech in less than three hours. South Carolina and Clemson in about 4 hours. And when you go to these games, the away team has fans (sometimes quite a few) in the stands. What happens when Southern Cal has to play at Minnesota? Any Trojan fans gonna be there? Especially in November. Or UCLA has to play at Penn State. Or Rutgers at Southern Cal. Any thoughts?
Be happy that your travel time is low. Nebraska fans used to be spoiled that way but no longer so after we switched conferences but we can visit some of best stadiums in America now. How well do West Virginia football fans travel n the Big XII? I don’t see people leaving warm LA in late Fall to travel to a cold destination that doesn’t have ski resorts.

Interesting. I live about 20 miles from Danville, IL. Building a casino there, too.
It's about an hour and a half from where I live. I am a poker player, so I'll go for a couple of days every quarter for the first 3 or 4 years before the town and casino turn into a shit hole. Can play in some of the larger circuit tournaments. It's a Ceasars property and I am a Ceasars' Diamond (purchased, not earned, I'm not bragging) so the rates will be favorable. But my experience with non-Vegas properties are they go to shit in a hurry. I hate playing there once that happens.

I hear that. Played lo-ball for a living in my mid 20s. Learned that playing in new places is where the money was.

How would one know the difference?
I know a few LDS peeps, But they don't advertise it.
I could see not selling them to someone living in Utah.
They wouldn't. I just like to rag my Baylor alum brother in law. Point is the Bear faithful shouldn't be selling their tickets to anyone. THey need to park their asses in those seats!

I go to Vegas every year to play poker. I always put $20 on the Dawgs to win. Because of Covid guess who didn’t go to Vegas in 2021? Yup, I’m that guy!

Near Danville, VA. About 15 minutes from the NC line.
Similar situation for me (Beckley WV) one of them … geographical anomalies, we 3-5 hours from everywhere .

As far as your question, more people stay home or go to a local sports bar ect. and watch on TV/device instead of traveling and the networks get their eyeballs from there.

Another difference about Pac and Big games are Big 10 stadiums usually fill up.

I can't speak for UCLA, but for USC, outside of the die hards who travel to virtually all games. I think there will be travel to most, if not all Big 10 venues for the first 3-4 years. After that, most will decide which are there favorite 3-4 venues and mostly stick to those. As someone else pointed out, the PAC is fairly spread out, so folks are used to the travel.

Favorite venues may not necessarily mean the venue itself or the team either. For example, there's always a large contingent of USC fans who travel to Stanford even though the venue isn't anything special, their games aren't particularly well attended and for most of their history, they haven't had good teams.

But the winery tours are pretty amazing.

I'm not that "die hard" enough anymore to travel to many games, especially since I'm now out here on the east coast and air travel is WONKERS nowadays. But I do try to go to most ND games (L.A./South Bend). Might even make a UCLA game here and there too. :heh:
