What does the SEC have going on the 2nd Saturday of October every year ??

Possibly. Sometimes it is to just get it into a better stadium. Vandy plays Tennessee often at the Titan's Stadium because it is nicer than the Vandy stadium.

Arkansas likely wanted the game in Texas annually for recruiting purposes and A&M probably likes game in Arlington as well. It was likely a win/win for both schools.

BTW, get ready for Arkansas. I think they will probably give you more headaches than any other new opponent on your schedule. I know they are biting at the chomps to play Texas again on a regular basis. Last year was a good example.

They really have nothing to lose against you which makes them a scary annual opponent.
I'm old enough that i watched Texas and Arkansas in the SWC.. and I was there last Sept. My friend from VA flew down here to make the trip.. he had no idea that they hated us as much as we told him.

Because that's when Oklahoma plays Texas in the Red River Showdown.
Was wondering if it was going to get crowded out by some other games.

The only other lock down date I can think of is the Thanksgiving Game Texas/Texas A&M

what are some other dates
over the last few years Alabama and Texas A&M look like that was same day

Yeah, I think Arkansas has kind of been lost without you guys to hate. Sure they have rivalries with Ole Miss and LSU but I think they hate Texas more than both of them. A&M was a nice addition for them but they are definitely getting excited about Texas.

It will be an interest rivalry that will be reborn. Arkansas definitely lags behind you guys in resources but they will be a pain in the butt for you because they will be one of those games that you can't overlook.

I foresee a season where Texas is riding high after upsetting Alabama and Oklahoma and is in the top 5 and then smack, Arkansas, of all people upsets you.

I think you are absolutely correct, that was one game that was played the same week as RRSO. However, that game has traditionally been played later.

I could see RRSO at 2:30 and then Alabama-Texas A&M at 6:30.

However, the Divisions are going to be scrapped when OU and Texas come so that game could very well go away. There likely will be probably a big-time evening SEC matchup after the RRSO.

I'm going to have to agree with Dallas here.
You don't want to play this game at night.

It gives everyone too much time to drink before the game
It has more to do with the fact that this is what you find just a couple of blocks outside the Cotton Bowl area. Now imagine this at night. I've been down there at night a couple of times (don't ask!!) and it's bad. Now throw in drinking, the Texas State Fair, bad actors, a high crime area that is teeming with a people plotting when/how to break into your car, etc., etc.
