Big 12 thread

Ohh I get it, but this jackass saying he hopes UT stays another 3 seasons is absolute bullshit. He has been trying to figure out a way that the PAC could take some B12 members and kill off the conference ever since you both announced the horrid exit. (Horrid for me, not you)
lol i just want to take more money, and leave this conference without giving you midgets a real payday..y'all lived off us long enough

It depends on rankings and how teams are doing. If your argument is ”well that’s not a brand name so I’ll never watch.” then yeah it’s going to falter. But If it’s we got a top 15 matchup with Baylor visiting Cincinnati at the noon spot, watch ND at 3:30 or 4 and then a top 10 Oklahoma State visits Provo then it could workout, at least some. I understand it won’t be perfect but but it could be a chance to compete.

It truly depends on where teams are ranked.
I don't think just "ranked" will get it. They need to be on a 2021 Cincy like run to really pull the numbers. JMO Hell, Indiana can be ranked and they won't pull number either unless it is a game vs OSU, Michigan, etc.

There are just certain teams that people watch religiously just to see them lose or win.
I have those teams I watch.

For instance, I'll watch Texas games to laugh when the lose terrible.

Obviously not a fan.

It’s going to have to be where ranked teams are. At least for the B12. Especially if it’s a Junior or a Texas school. The B12 wont have those brand names. Will it work every weekend? Probably not, but it could work some weekends. That’s what the conference and the network will need to get right. And way excerpting a 6 day or 2 week window will be better when scheduling games.

Usually yes BUT for whatever reason sometimes ya can get Kansas in the top 10 for the week (KU v Coastal week 2)

I watched that game, it benefited from being Friday night, a ranked Coastal team that I wanted to put eyes on, and a week 2 schedule last year that was a suckfest. It was a watchable game for the better part of 3 quarters and then Kansas had to Kansas.

Damn, must be more desperate CFBholics than I thought....and not any other games to watch. That week even has my Miners listed further down. That's got to be bogus cuz no one watches us. lol

There’s also the gambling angle now that may not have been as prevalent before. ANY game is far more “interesting” when you have money riding on it.
I can’t help but wonder how many bets were on that game compared to some others.

I think it also depends on when it is also. A Friday night with nothing else on may actually do well every once in a while. With the networks seemingly wanting earlier start times a night game of two nobodies may actually do well because nothing else is really on.

im more likely to watch a top 15 match up with Baylor and Cinci than I am to watch an unranked ND or a ranked ND play an unranked opponent or to watch a top 10 Ok St visit an unranked BYU.
so yes where teams are ranked matters but it also depends on what my other options are.

The networks have played a very large part in dictating when a game should be played. It irritates a lot of us old tradtionalist fans but they control the gold so they make the rules. I think that probably means that the ACC, Big 12 and Pac 12 will be much more at their mercy regarding start times/dates for games than will be the SEC and B1G. It has been that way but I think it will be even more so now. They can't afford to go head to head with marquee games from the biggies. They'll need to be scheduled against less appealing games from the big two.

But, I ain't no media genius so I may be all wet.

Yeah but you and I are CFB lunatics. I'm not sure the more casual fans view it like we do.

The old "Will it play in Peoria? is a US-English figure of speech that is traditionally used to ask whether a given product, person, promotional theme, or event will appeal to mainstream United States, or across a broad range of demographic and psychographic groups." That's what the networks are after IMHO.

Hmmmm saw this on twitter.. Could be plausible..or not

I don’t the SEC would be ready by next year but I guess they could pull it together.

1. The money has to be there
2. I would secure increases if you add schools
3. Would require bumps for all schools if PAC folds

The only way this really makes sense for the B12 is if it helps recruit schools from the PAC and decreases the divide between the P2.

lol okie light still has a losing record vs us....

I was under the impression if UT and ou left early.. that the contract would not change.. the conference could then split UT and ou portion among the other 8.. But I actually want UT and ou to stay longer now.. I want them to attend the meetings, make everyone uncomfortable and demand that they too get some of the money the new additions are paying to join..

We'll take your money and tell you to piss off and go sit outside. Win win if you ask me.

Also

I'd post the gif of Mack Brown actually shitting himself when this happened but our gif software sucks and this was the best I could do.
