Texas Rangers fire manager Chris Woodward amid season of dissatisfactory progress​

The Texas Rangers fired manager Chris Woodward on Monday amid a season of dissatisfactory progress despite the investment of more than a half-billion guaranteed dollars in the free agent market over the winter, the team announced.

The Rangers occupy third place in the American League West with a 51-63 record. Woodward, after his fourth consecutive year with a losing mark, will be replaced by third-base coach Tony Beasley, who has been named interim manager through the remainder of the 2022 season.

Kind of strange they'd do that now.

And now the news is out...JD is fired. Fuck yeah! Stuck around about 5 years too long, still surviving on the one Braves trade.
 
Woodward is a Braves legend. Hope he lands on his feet

I'm sure he will. Someone will take him as a bench coach and he will have a HC job again within a decade. Woody is a good dude who was handed a bag of garbage and told to make a 5 course meal, he was set to fail from the beginning.

I think they wanted to get rid of those with a losing history. If you look at the roster almost everyone here has been here less than 3 years. Also noticed that Woody liked to tinker with the lineup, was quick to pull players. Box scores looked like an NL game when the. pitchers batted. In the small amount of games since Woody the starting lineup has finished the game. I'm wondering if something wasn't going on in the locker room, like Woody had lost it or something.
