B1G Media Deal

has escalators too, which means they are going to expand

Pretty neat. Black Friday games on CBS and NBC.

Probably not a great thing for CBB. I have Peacock, but that's a huge downgrade in terms of exposure.

As a UT fan who always watches UT play on black fridays.. it sucks

So ESPN/ABC better bring the TX Classic on turkey day, the way God intended it to be

This is a lot of money.

"The Big Ten is projected to eventually distribute $80 million-$100 million per year to each of its 16 members. According to USA Today, the league distributed $54.3 million to most of its members during the most recent fiscal year (2019-20) not impacted by the coronavirus pandemic."

Notre Dame's $60 million renegotiated deal is basically what B10 programs are already getting paid.

that's the one thing I see as a downfall.. CBB exposure is something ESPN does very very well..Football is football and fans will tune in to whichever network covers their school.. But I've caught myself watching CBB games all day on ESPN because they made it seem that you don't want to miss this one lol

"As for basketball, CBS will broadcast up to 11 regular-season men’s basketball games in 2023 and will carry 15 games (13 of which will be conference games) from 2024 onward; CBS will continue to carry the Big Ten tournament semifinals and the championship game, which leads into the CBS Selection Sunday show each March.

Peacock will stream 32 regular-season men’s basketball games (20 conference games) in 2023-24 and 47 games (32 conference games) from 2024-25 onward as well as the Big Ten tournament’s opening night doubleheader. Peacock will also stream 30 regular-season women’s basketball games (20 conference games) per year starting in 2023-24.

Fox/FS1 will carry a minimum of 45 regular-season men’s basketball games per year, while BTN will carry a minimum of 126 men’s games per year. BTN will air the four Thursday games and four quarterfinal games of the Big Ten men’s basketball tournament."

Yeah, Peacock is getting a ton of CBB inventory. I'm really surprised with how much they are getting. Nothing on USA either, which surprises me. They also get the opening round of the BTT, which has always been on BTN. Even though the Gophers suck at CBB, I better get to watch every fucking game. I'm not paying for BTN+ to watch them boat race some team from the SWAC.

I think the value of this is being overlooked,

"The Big Ten's new $7 billion media rights deal will string the conference's top football games across three major networks each week, creating an NFL-style television schedule on Saturdays. "

The B10 is no longer sharing space with other major conferences on ESPN. If you turn on one of those 3 major networks on a Saturday, you're probably going to find B10 football (or ND AKA B10 team waiting to be forced into the B10).

I'm wondering where this $100 million per year per school is coming from
There's built in incentives (I don't know all what the encompasses) and it increases with expansion. IE when/if USC and UCLA join + others. And I thought I saw that it was $1.2 billion.
