The pick 6

I almost pulled the trigger on Florida just on potential.

So the "teams"

@Volbound1700 Georgia, Michigan, Oklahoma State, Pitt, Tennessee, and Purdue

@Wild Turkey Alabama, Baylor, Oregon, Michigan State, Penn State, Florida State

@CoalTrain Ohio State, Texas A&M, USC, Ole Miss, Kentucky, UCLA

@ralphiewvu Clemson, Utah, NC State, Iowa, Arkansas, WVU

@fishinabarrel Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Miami, Wisconsin, Wake Forest, LSU

"Team"/group with the most total wins, wins the contest. Tiebreak will be bowl wins/total points scored , then finally a coin flip.

I'll post the standings throughout the season as the games are played.

Just go ahead and engrave the trophy with my name because you guys can’t pick worth a shit.

Wonder if @HammerDown or @fordman84 could grant our winner 1000 or so vbucks as a prize?
And/OR we could have the winner name a charity that the rest would have to make a donation to or somethin along those lines :noidea:

I'm good with either option. I am not at all confident in my line up

I almost pulled the trigger on Florida just on potential.
I had Tier 6th ranked:

1. UCLA
2. FSU
3. Texas
4. Florida

After that I wasn't sure who I would pick. I think UCLA is a solid pick in this spot because EVERYONE in the PAC is vulnerable and Oregon with Bo Nix and USC with new everything aren't proven commodities. UCLA could win one or two they aren't supposed to.

I would have gone Texas but too much drama with the QB search, two starters out and you got Baylor, OSU and Oklahoma that are head hunting this year.

Florida has potential but so do Georgia, SC, Tennessee and Ky in the east plus they play Utah, LSU and aTm so its not an easy road.

I went with FSU because the ACC is an easier road than any of the other teams listed. So this one could go either way and be brilliant, stupid or meh. I'd rather have UCLA than any of them.

I ranked the tiers before we started and this is how I did:

Alabama - 1
Baylor - 1
Oregon - 1
Michigan State - 2 (had Wisconsin as 1 in that group)
Penn State - 1
FSU - 2 (although not a ton of confidence in that one)

I weighed this not on their preseason ranking but on how the media ranked them to finish at their media days. Those guys know these teams better than anyone at this point.

To be honest I got lucky with the pick selection spot as that is a huge key to this. I also got lucky because people didn't do research and picked teams like Oklahoma and USC way too early.

My tier 6 was:

1. Purdue (which I got and surprised no one grabbed them up because they probably should have been in the top 5 tiers)

2. LSU

3. Kansas State

4. UCLA

5. Florida

I felt like once I got to 5 or so, it was getting very risky. Another weird one that I considered is Louisville mostly due to their schedule. I also looked at Arizona State and Oregon State as potential options but the Pac12 is just a toss-up all around once you get past Oregon and Utah.

Purdue has burned me so many times in the NCAA basketball tournament I have zero faith in them.

LSU has a freshman QB, all new coaches and right now there are rumors about the academic eligibility of some players.

Kansas State has to go through OSU, OU, Baylor, and Texas it's going to be tough for them, especially with Martinez at QB.

I like UCLA as they have the most potential
I like Florida but can't tell you why other than they are Florida and AR15 might be something

I'd take Texas over Kansas State all day long.

Played this with a work group last year and after the picks a dude said basically the same thing..

He won the contest by a game thanks to Michigan’s season (6 round pick)

Says something about pre season polls.
I used 4 to try n rank these and left out G5 teams

This scared me with KSU as well. Still, I think they go 8-4 because the other 8 games are all very manageable. As for Texas, I don't think they go 8-4, especially now after all the trouble they have had.

LSU's early schedule is soft and very manageable for them. FSU and Miss State are the only two games that have a pulse in the first 4 and both will likely see LSU favored. @Auburn doesn't seem all that intimidating with the offseason troubles at Auburn.

Tennessee is very winnable as well and LSU should be favored.

That is an easy 6-0 start. That will give them significant confidence going into the remaining part of their schedule and they likely could bump into some other teams that may have given up or are just generally struggling in that second part of their schedule.

UCLA was high for me as well but they kind of the Texas A&M of the Pac12. They tend to get a lot of hype but never seem to live up to the hype.

I wouldn't be shocked if LSU has two losses in the first 6 games.

My tier 6 really needed to be someone from the B12 and my homer took over. K state is who I should have picked and Texas wasn’t far behind. I truthfully have no faith in Baylor to win the conference this year. I think Junior will but wouldn’t be shocked if one of the two I didn’t pick does.

USC I stayed away from but Oklahoma has won less than 9 games twice since 2000. Worst case scenario I'd see them still getting me 8 points.

Not picking scUM. A&M is hyped every year. And I'm not confident in Utah and Baylor as they seem to go back and forth from season to season. Unfortunately I was last pick in tiers that the last choice was very obvious so I got stuck with Notre Dame, Miami, and Wake (this one could still turn out ok if the back up QB is any good)

I like Utah as a pick. USC and Oregon have weaknesses and Whittingham is the best coach in the PAC.

I've heard some compelling cases for Purdue having a good year and they were on my watch list as well.

I'm not a believer in Martinez at KState.. or anywhere else so I was staying away from them and yea I'd take Texas too and won't be shocked if they mess around and win the Big12.

I like the talent that's typically at LSU but this being Kelly's first year and the way they looked by seasons end worried me but, we'll see.

Florida looked bad too at seasons end but I feel like the players just quit on Mullen so they may get excited about the new HC and AR15 can be a terror if he gets things lined out from the neck up and stays healthy.

I liked UCLA's QB/RB and their schedule. No idea if they can win the PAC, I guess its possible but if they can get 8-10 wins out of that last group I'll be happy with em.
