i knew he'd been fighting cancer for awhile, but...damn. a legend is gone.

Last year we reported ... Eddie was flying between the US and Germany for 5 years to get radiation treatment. Though he was a heavy smoker for years, he believes he developed throat cancer from a metal guitar pick he used to frequently hold in his mouth more than 20 years ago.
 
Time to spin up some classic VH this week as a tribute to the legend.

Eruption was one of the (if not, the) benchmark for shredders for so many years (and still is, I guess)
 
Damn. Can’t say I was ever a big VH fan, but the dude was a rare talent on the guitar
 
I saw Van Halen with Boston and Black Sabbath and opening act some guy named Sammy Hagar
Van Halen “parachutes “ into the parking lot and runs on stage.
 
I don't care if it makes me a pussy, I've had to choke back tears about 3 times since learning of his death.
