Who here has quit smoking? What method worked for you?

Do what @Peter Gozintite says to do...

Instead of convincing yourself to quit smoking cigarettes, convince yourself you never smoked to begin with.

That way you don't have to quit smoking, which is hard to do, and simply quit believing you ever did smoke, which is easier to do.

Try it....might work!
Think I'd have about a good of a chance convincing myself I've never beat off.

Im a shitty liar. And a highly skilled masturbator.

I quit for good 16 yrs ago. Cold turkey.
One of the best things I’ve ever done for myself.
I smoked on and off since the late 70’s...and tried quitting numerous times, but only got as far as a few weeks or a month or 2 without it.
Never relied on patches or pills.
Cold turkey was the way to go for me.

This is me.
Just Stopped

Cut my consumption in half for 3 days in a row, and then just stopped.

7 years.
doesn't even bother me when I'm around it.

I was never addicted to cigs. Hardly ever smoked em

But maaaaan, it was a damned journey to put down the green stuff, if yaknowwhatI'msayin!!

Chantix is no joke I tried it and had to get off pretty quickly because things got weird.

Wellbutrin is probably a better path if you want to go the drug way.

Best method cold turkey and just know it is going to suck like hell for 3 weeks before it eases up.
Cold..turkey? Lol

Chantix was not super good to me. I didn’t have any of the real bad side effects, like the kind that lead to black boxes. And I didn’t dream vivid. I didn’t dream at all. It was like a projector ran in my mind all night with no film.

Bur. It did help me quit in the past. It’s worth looking into. The potential risks are known.

Started on nicotine gum 2 days ago and I'm still about to strangle any bitch that comes near me.

Give me some tips from your success.

TIA.

PISS OFF!
I used a vape, disposable type shit. Picked one that i hated. It would be just enough to give me a quick fix, but i didnt enjoy it. I never fucking liked it, so it was easy to quit when the time came. Took me about six months on the vape. But it quick got down to only when i had a few drinks.

I found it was easier to quit the vape. Feb 5th 2015 was my last cigarette.

I did have a guy on thoop, ask me how good of a liar I was. After you quit, look in the mirror, and tell yourself you have never been a smoker. If you never were a smoker, why would you crave it?

Maybe just because Im easily manipulated, but when a craving used to kick it, i would tell myself, "why the fuck would you want that? You never smoked". Sounds fucking dumb, i know. I will never smoke a cigarette again. Cigars once in a while is another thing.

Tell me about it. Thought I was gonna die trying to kick my kale habit

You can get hypnotized into no longer smoking. As a Teenager my buddy’s dad had it done to him. He still hasn’t smoked to this day

Motivation > method

Smoked more than a pack a day for 17 years. Quit in less than 2 weeks using aversion techniques, but it was more the motivation. Wife got pregnant. Wanted her to quit for the health of the child and I didn't want to be a hypocritical asshole.

I changed to a brand I didn't much like (not really hated though) and forced myself to smoke at times I didn't want one while avoiding times I did.

The last one i lit I nearly threw up and was so disgusted I threw the rest away and never once missed it or had a craving.

That was 19 years ago.

I know the sticking point is the part where at first you think there is never a time you aren't craving one. It really doesn't take long to have those times outnumber the times you want one. I was down to maybe 3 a day when I quit.
