My post from another thread. I'm one that hated to see that peckerwood from ND get hired. Kelly should have a season long honeymoon. For about 95% of the coaches, this is their 1st season. the other 5%, this is their 2nd season. A total rebuild from the foundation on up.
LSU finishing 6-6 will be ok. Just about ever coach there will be their first season there. A lot of new stuff to learn and get use to. I hate that LSU is going to lose the season, but it's time to start over. This season I expect nothing much in the W-L, just start building for the future. Not having a losing SEC record would be great tho.

I just assume there will be talk of bare cupboards for two seasons, then shit will get real.

Yeah. I guess they thought that Kelly was JC and perform miracles from the get-go. What pissed me off the most was the almost total lack of tackling. Looked like the 2020 team.
There also appeared to be be several mal-contents on the the team. get rid of those, have a good week of practice and try to beat the cupcake next Saturday. There will always be pissed off fans because in todays world, they want instant gratification. Those fans are just going to have to stuff it.
This season might even get worse before we see the improvement, hopefully, start happening, but there will be fans that just don't get it.

Not to mention there was always this 'skepticism' and doubt in South Bend about his real recruiting abilities. The general consensus ... it was his assistants that went & snagged these kids for their commitments. I believe that to be very true.

In Kelly's first years, he had absolutely no prob with throwing his own players under the bus for his own shortcomings as a big-time coach. It was pretty arrogant and got obnoxiously old really quickly with the ND fanbase. I can only imagine how the players felt about that fiasco.

Former players that know they don’t have to tow the company line have had things to say about him. He was rarely at morning practices (until the last couple of years). He was rarely directly involved in recruiting. Even blue chippers that ended up elsewhere said they never spoke to him directly.

I keep hearing from LSU fans that all he has to do is throw up a fence around the state and he’ll win. He still has to get out on the road and build those relationships. And judging by the regression of QB’s at ND *4 Everett Golson ended up transferring and not starting. 4* Brandon Wimbush ends up transferring and not starting. 4* Phil Jurkovec came out recently and trashed Kelly personally, it’s going to be hard to get an elite QB

The cupboards aren't bare but a long way from being full. As I posted earlier, this is year one of a total rebuild, so I expect the cupboards will be filled. Now, will Kelly be able to put it all together. After two seasons, if he doesn't, the shit will get real, real fast.
 
Finebaum was shitting all over BK decision not to go for 2.
