Film review of UGA v Oregon …

Yes. He was brought in as a "Senior Analyst" with the defense.

Someone to hold Lanning's hand.
He got fired with 15 million in the bank. His son was a PWO at UGA. He went to and played at UGA. They decided to move to Athens which makes sense (currently living in Athens - Dooley, Donnan, Goff, Richt, Smart, Muschamp and Bobo - that's kind of crazy). His younger kids are in a good high school in the area.

He started as an analyst but our STs coach had a dependency problem and went into rehab. Muschamp took his spot as the 10th coach. This year he is the co-DC, and in charge of STs.

Yeah, as of Lanning leaving for Oregon.

I've already posted that Georgia's 2020 defense took a step back after Lanning was promoted to DC. Hence Muschamp being brought in Jan 2021 as an analyst to hold his hand, or as Kirby put it "To help coach the coaches".

Bama's defense had also taken a step back after Tosh Lupoi was promoted to DC in 2018. Hence him becoming a position coach in the NFL in 2019, 2020, and 2021, before Lanning gave him the DC job at Oregon.

I am not sure the point you are trying to make. Lanning was the DC for one of the best Ds of all time. Muschamp certainly helped but don't take anything away from Lanning. Hell, if you really want to give credit to someone other than Lanning, give it to Smart. He's the D genius.

I'm pretty well convinced a 49-3 result showed Lanning to be a fraud that needed Smart and Muschamp to hold his hand for that "best D of all time".

I reiterate that Lanning's defense took a step back from 2019 to 2020.

We were told Lanning knew the weaknesses of Georgia on "both sides of the ball".

Georgia's offense put up 49 pts. Georgia's defense held Oregon to 3 pts.
i.e. "Both sides of the ball".

A clear result of Lanning no longer having Smart or Muschamp holding his hand.

Smart was behind 30-0 against Ole Miss in his first year. We lost to Vandy at home, and almost lost to Nicholls State. Saban lost to some Louisiana directional school in his first year. First game, new coach, you had 20 transfers, playing in our back yard, and you played the reigning NC who will likely be in it all the way this year - we have reloaded, not rebuilding.

I don't have time to look at it, but I am sure our "step back" from 2019 to 2020 had more to do with players and COVID than Dan Lanning. Give the guys some time to get things right.

I've no choice in the matter.

However, I reiterate that the pile of "coordinators" that have failed miserably in making the jump to P5 head coach is deep.

I agree totally.
