The "Done" Teams. Are They Really Done?

USC almost did in what? 2016? When they opened up and lost to Alabama 62-3…they went on to the rose bowl that year

Yeah, they made it to the Rose Bowl because they won the PAC, but they weren't even in the cfp convo. In fact, you could argue that they actually made the PAC look even worse because they got crushed like that and still won the PAC.

When it comes to the cfp, y'all are done. No way Oregon climbs to the top 4 by season end. Good shot at the consolation Rose Bowl game . Good luck with.
Sounds to me like someone needs to take a nice, leisurely stroll through the streets of Scenario Village.

@OregonDucks, am I right?

Seriously though, this is just Week 1. Oregon is absolutely not out of the CFP. If they regroup in Week 2, win out convincingly for the remainder of the season, and then a comet destroys everything east of the Mississippi River, BAM! Oregon is a LOCK.

Oregon is absolutely done unless they are the only 1 loss P5 team left to pick from.

Agree. It isn't impossible but it is improbable at the moment.

Now with CFB playoff expansion, they would still be in the mix. (In fact the Pac12 champion is likely a lock).

A 1 loss P5 team in the grand majority of years will absolutely for sure be in the 12 team playoff.

IMO I wouldnt be shocked either if Oregon even get left out with 1 loss for a 2 loss SEC team.

If it was like Bama who lost a close one to UGA (or vice versa) in the SEC title game to get their 2nd loss

It would depend on the SEC team. I just don't see Alabama and Georgia dropping 2 games though.

I have Alabama 11-1 and then beating Georgia in Atlanta.

Georgia will be 12-0 and lose to Alabama in Atlanta.

Sure Florida or Tennessee could get Georgia if they just play like crap but I don't see it happening.

Then again, it is CFB and craziness has often been the norm.

Another concern for these outside teams is the B1G race. Michigan and Ohio State both looked great in week 1. Could the B1G get 2 teams in playoffs?

Would a one-loss B1G team get in over a team like Oregon? (i.e. an 11-1 Michigan who's only loss is to Ohio State).

The crying from Oregon fans (especially OD) if they got left out with 1 loss (PAC 12 champs) for a non SEC champ UGA with 1 loss would be legendary.

If they are both 11-0 going into the game and it's a close game i'd say it's absolutely possible.

we will see how Michigan performs against a real team though, we are gonna have to wait awhile for that. Their OOC schedule is about the worst you could produce using only FBS teams.

That would be a hard sell since their is a head-to-head. Sure it was in Atlanta but I don't see Oregon winning even if it was in Autzen.

I definitely think Florida-Utah would have been very different had Florida gone to Utah though.

Yea playing across the country didn't cause them to lose by 46 points, not matter how much the ODs of the world want to believe. It's still at least a 3 score game if they played that game at Autzen.

If not for a mistake by their qb on the 2 yard line at the very end of the game, they likely win that game.
Stop that shit.

All games have moments and there were plenty that went their way that had nothing to do with coaching or skill. That particular moment was a great defensive play.

I saw two well matched teams. The good guys won.

Stop what shit? What I posted is 100% true.

Yes, games have moments and in that moment, the Utah QB made a mistake and Florida's defense made a play that likely saved the game for them. Florida's defense was on its heels and Utah had the momentum. Not hard to see Utah at least getting a field goal to force OT.

Also, the point, which it looks like you missed, is that this loss isn't likely to hurt Utah much if they win out.

The narrative people are trying to run with now is that Utah was overrated. If Florida wins 8-10 games this year, the narrative will change to Florida was underrated.

You clearly did not watch the game. Only the end. I don’t blame you though, I wouldnt have either if I was a USC fan.

Did you cant PAC PAC PAC while watching that last drive?

You clearly have comprehension issues.

Funny that you're so butthurt that you think there was some slam against Florida in my post.

Also, unlike SEC fans, the PAC doesn't think that some other team winning somehow means our team wins too.

But please, continue to show that you aren't bright enough to grasp what my posts were about. It's entertaining.

Oregon isnt "dominating" the rest of the season though.

UGA is a elite team I know but Oregon also looked like complete dogshit in every aspect.

Bo Nix is not a good QB, he's somehow managed to seemingly get WORSE every year he has been in college.

Ty Thompson and Jay Butterfield must not be very good either if they couldnt beat him out.......

They need to win out and they need Florida, USC and UCLA to all finish in the 8-10 win range. Oregon being in the 8-10 win range would help as well since they may end up playing them twice. All of those things are not only possible, but maybe even likely.
Utah needs Florida to have a pretty good year IMO. If the Utes run the table and Florida is good, they make it IMO.

Who said Oregon is "dominating" the rest of the season?

I saw where it was basically said that is what they'd have to do to have a chance.

Haven't seen anyone say they could or would.
