Was reading and NFL article that spoke about the different cities with NFL teams, and ranked them based on fan support in the other sports the teams have local.

Well, #1 was...

Detroit, Michigan.

2. was Phoenix, Arizona.

3. Cincy

4. New York

5. Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minn.

What does everyone else think is the worst sports city? Or what other cities are bad?

San Diego. They lost their NFL team and the Padres have never won a WS

If you’re looking for 3-4 pro sport towns, it’s Minneapolis/St Paul

Have any of their current franchises ever won a championship other than the Twins, who were close to being condensed out of the league by the mid 90’s?

With the exception of the Dolphins (they do ok) this. The other teams only get sellouts if they are winning.
Oh, we’re talking fan support. I was going by team performance in my lifetime

I'd look at contraction towns:
Cleveland
Seattle
Indy

I mean Detroit's only claim is the Red Wings and then the Pistons back in the 70's, right?

Not exactly 'tearing it up'.

As far as fan support goes, outside of the Braves, Atlanta doesn’t do a great job of supporting their teams, not even CFB.

Falcons are lucky to have a half full stadium if the team isn’t winning. People forget the Hawks are a thing. GT only sells out when UGA comes to town, and the stands are full of red shirts then.

But the Braves have been very well supported since the move to the burbs, and if you consider Athens to be close enough to Atlanta to count, UGA sells out every home football game

Atlanta United might be the best support the city has. Still top 20 in the world last I saw in average home attendance.

Tigers are in a bit of drought, like they haven’t won in my lifetime, but they’re a pretty storied franchise. I don’t know about roundball

I'm not familiar with this phrase, 'contraction towns', mind explaining?
towns that have suffered major sport contractions. LAX and SAN also come to mind, but LAX has plenty to be ok with in the sports realm still.

Nah. Would pretty well guarantee the Falcons get more per game. The Braves technically aren’t in the city anymore, but they routinely get over 30k for Wednesday afternoon get out of town games

My dates are way off. Thanks to wiki, I see they won the NBA in 89, 90 and again in 04

Those aren’t true contractions. I watched a video a while back about the last big 4 team to be truly contracted. It was the San Francisco Seals of the NHL. I had never heard of em. They didn’t even have a radio or tv deal though, so I’m sure most in their area never heard of em either.

The Twins were pretty close to being contracted in the mid 90’s, but obviously didn’t happen
