Worst Sports City?

Detroit has 4 sports teams. More than I can say for alot of major cities that can only support 1 or 2. It should be broken down into 4 team sports, then 3, 2, and 1. Detroit has also never had a team move away unlike other major cities. This poll is baloney

I strongly disagree about Detroit.

- How could a team as shitty as the Lions have been in our lifetimes still have such strong fan support?
- Detroit is nicknamed Hockeytown and still have been getting strong fan support despite poor results on the ice recently.
- Despite being utter garbage for years, the Tigers still have pulled in 1.5M fans this year. Meanwhile, the Marlins have pulled in half that and a good Rays team is pulling in significantly less.
- They support their universities well, too.

Michigan has excellent fans that love their sports, they just have shitty products to cheer for. Wings and Lions seem to be turning a corner into respectability right now and the Tigers seem to be not far behind.

I agree that Miami seems the obvious choice.

They have a huge support for the Heat, but they don't seem to care about anything else, including college.

Where would you put a city like St Louis that really supports the Cardinals, but has also lost two NFL teams, an NBA team and an MLB team?

They’ve really supported the Cardinals for a long, long time, but seems everyone else in town gets the cold shoulder

Probably the same at Atlanta, who have lost 2 NHL teams, and as you mentioned before, historically only cares about the Bravos.

Phoenix for sure. Too hot, too many gang bangers, that fuck-stick Shaggy the doosh, and the water table is almost depleted. How will the athletes be able to drink water with a dead aquifer?

Oakland should also be high in this discussion.

Detroit is and always has been one of the best sports cities in all major sports.

They also are completely blind to the transgressions of their players. Put them near the bottom.

The Blues get huge support too.

The Rams leaving wasn't because of lack of support, I was stationed there and they always sold out.

St. Louis is the LA of the Midwest.

Hockey teams in the Deep South are a gamble to begin with. Probably wasn’t ready for the Flames and the Thrashers won a grand total of zero playoff games their entire existence and only made the news when that one player killed his teammate in a car crash. I think a hockey team would fare better now. I see a lot of Nashville Predators flags and window stickers these days, which I never saw for the Thrashers.

But losing hockey teams is nothing compared to losing NFL, MLB and NBA teams. Falcons, Braves and Hawks have all been there for over 50 years and none of them are in danger of relocating anytime soon.

It'd have to be in the discussion but good grief, Petco Park in the Gaslamp? If the Padres were still in a horrible old stadium like Jack Murphy, maybe.

They also lost the Clippers that used to play at the San Diego Sports Arena over off the 8 and that was horrible, too.

I mean, I love AZ sports, but Phoenix is not my favorite area.

Can't judge all AZ sports fans by Shaggy, similar to how you can't judge all Ducks or Washington fans based on OD or AG's actions.

But our sports support does...lack.

Agreed. Cardinals fans believe in their heart-of-hearts that they're a notch above, just a tad bit better when in reality, they're amongst the worst.

I have to say, that’s a very nice stadium. People are cool, too. I’ve gone there several times in full Giants gear and the few Padres fans I encountered weren‘t intimidating at all.

I would have to say that the palpable aura of racism in Boston as well as the atrocity that is Fenway at least puts them in the discussion of worst.
