Northwestern's Board of Trustees approves initial schematic design for dynamic new Ryan Field.

Reminds me of Minnesota's stadium they built in the early 2000's. Smaller but really functional for their needs. This looks really cool and packing less people into a smaller stadium is far more impressive on TV and in person than having a bigger stadium that's 1/3 - 1/2 empty.

Stadium looks cool, but schools need to have top of the line practice facilities if they want to recruit well.

Honestly, they have one of the best in the B10, they have their own beach.

So, is the new stadium going to built in the same location on Central or moved to a different location?

Looks like a winner to me. That would be pretty cool to see as a recruit on a visit. Probably still not enough to draw 5 stars, but the mid tier 4 star or top 3 stars would for sure be interested. Plus the Northwestern education/degree.

An entire thread dedicated to Northwestern? In Week 5?

Yes but isn't that body of water located in Chicago? I don't even want to know how contaminated it is.
It's Lake Michigan, it's actually a pretty darn clean area. Tons of swimming beaches around there.

I’m probably in the minority but I prefer the smaller stadiums. Not counting the Sun Bowl, Cotton Bowl and Jerry’s world, I’ve been to Texas, A&M, OU and Az State’s big “old” ones. I’ve also been to Air Force, TCU and SMU. I’ll take those any day over the monster ones. I haven’t been to Baylor’s new one. But I talked with K-State fans at hotel breakfast on their way back from their Baylor game one year. They said The new Baylor stadium is their favorite one they’ve been to over the years.

But just being small ain’t necessarily good either. UNM, NMSU and UNT’s aint too swift imo. ( I have heard UNT has improved theirs.)

Apparently you've been to quite a few college stadiums.

I'm with you.

I have been to GT's stadium a few times and really enjoy it, and it's a small one for sure. It's also in the middle of Atlanta so you have the ATL skyline as well.
