Still won't watch.Pac games are gonna be shown on Bally Sports for peanuts
There seem to be 3 possible scenarios:God, we (PAC fans) need some good news.
The more I read and hear, the more I agree with @Wild Turkey in the fact that the conference as a whole won't exist anymore.
Unless something major happens, and happens soon.
OR....Amazon buys the rights for the PAC12N, gets USC and UCLA to remain in the PAC12, and then gets BYU and SDSU to join the PAC 12 which then becomes the PAC14, and we all live happily ever after. There seem to be 3 possible scenarios:
- ESPN isn't lowballing... the PAC was already a tough sell ... without USC and UCLA (hate giving them any credit), and the time zone issues, there just aren't a lot of compelling game that will draw a lot of eyeballs.
- ESPN is saying, if we don't give them a deal, they will have to merge with the B12, and we can get some eyeballs with those games. At least more for both conferences that the two apart.
- ESPN knows that Oregon and Washington, and perhaps Cal and Stanford have a good chance of heading to the B1G in the near future, even if not this year, and aren't going to overpay without assurances about shrinkage.

It could happen...right?
Oh man I know, that's why I tried to write that so that it was clearly a joke, and ha hopeful wish at best.lol
Not sure there is much the PAC can do to keep USC from leaving.
Somehow being able to offer them more than the B1G might get a conversation started, but it would take a lot more than that to get them to stay.
Curious ... would being the B12 be all that bad? I think your games would be closer. I think the Texas school rivalries would be good. Still have ASU each year. Which would you prefer?Oh man I know, that's why I tried to write that so that it was clearly a joke, and hopefully wish at best.
I don't know the future of the PAC, but if you and UCLA do end up leaving, then I'm not sure how we survive and still be considered a P5. Hell, we barely are considered one now.
Let's see.. the B12 would include:Curious ... would being the B12 be all that bad? I think your games would be closer. I think the Texas school rivalries would be good. Still have ASU each year. Which would you prefer?

I've always wanted BYU in the PAC. I think have the Holy War in conference would have been good, and BYU has a very good athletic department. If Oregon and Washington were to take the lead and work with the PAC offices on trying to keep the conference together and convince the Arizona schools, Utah and Colorado to tell the Big 12, thanks but no thanks, that would help.
Also, if I understood what I read correctly, part of ESPN's issue with the money the PAC wants was that the PAC didn't want to include shrink protection.
The PAC should ask for a lower amount that is still a good bit more than the current deal, include shrink protection, but then also add growth inducements. That way, if anyone else leaves, ESPN pays less...but if they can convince someone else to join (I'd try to flip BYU and talk to SDSU or a couple of Big 12 schools), then ESPN pays more.
I like that actually.B12 Divisions
East
Cincy
UCF
Houston
WVU
Kansas
Kansas State
Iowa State
Oklahoma State
West
Arizona
Arizona State
Colorado
Utah
BYU
Texas Tech
Baylor
TCU
Im spitballing Im sure Junior would want a say in this and have a few more Texas teams in their division but this is the first draft.
The shrink provision is that ESPN can cancel the contract. That’s a no go in the current environment. Anyone leaves and ESPN can call it off.If Oregon and Washington were to take the lead and work with the PAC offices on trying to keep the conference together and convince the Arizona schools, Utah and Colorado to tell the Big 12, thanks but no thanks, that would help.

I don’t think you’d need divisions as much in basketball. but for football it’d probably be wise given the distance Of some. And I do agree that’s a helluva good bball league.I like that actually.
And from a basketball perspective, that is super fucking tasty.
Yeah, I'm just saying basketball in general, that would have some killer matchups.I don’t think you’d need divisions as much in basketball. but for football it’d probably be wise given the distance Of some. And I do agree that’s a helluva good bball league.
Ohh heck yeah, almost Reminds me of the BE when they had 18 teams in the early 2000’s. Always a good matchup or two guaranteed. This league looks to be better though.Yeah, I'm just saying basketball in general, that would have some killer matchups.

And for some unknown reason, I have wanted New Mexico in the PAC, just because they seem like a big enough school to be able to become decent, and the geography worked.
Yeah, I know SDSU has been the talk of the town lately in terms of joining the PAC. Makes sense.New Mexico would be fine if they provided assurances that they will dump money into their facilities.
I suggested SDSU because PAC teams already play them, they have a new stadium that just opened this year and it would give the PAC schools a presence in the SoCal recruiting grounds again.
