The Tyree catch was a crazy flukish play, no question about it.

The Manningham play was not. Eli threaded the needle and put the ball on his fingertips 40 yards downfield. Great catch, better throw.

This is the truth. He was pretty average his whole career. His career rating of 84.1 shows it. Andy Dalton has a career rating of 87.5. Ryan Fitzpatrick has 81.5. Mitch Trubisky 86.1. Eli is with those QB's.

A career is not defined by two games, even super bowls. The Hall of Fame takes into account an entire career and as was pointed out he was never a top 10 quarterback at any point in time and his long career
 
Two things you can never take away from Eli:

His rings
His toughness

That kid took a beating for years and never missed a game. And in the two biggest moments of his career, he came through and defeated a Dynasty.

I've never liked Eli because of how he and his family behaved when he was getting drafted, but I can respect what he's done as a player.
 
Danny Dimes got the Giant's rolling now...

Probably hold out next year for that big contract..

I agree it is over-rated, but not worthless. It gives a snapshot of a QB's career.
 
Until the Giants improve their offensive line, it doesn't matter who they put back there.
