TV Series Game of Thrones: House of the Dragon

I was thinking it might be painful to watch but it really well done and needed to be drawn out like it was.

and Daemon helping him onto the throne was a good touch
Daemon is the man. Not only did he help him, but he also placed the crown on his head & then handled Vamond for his brother.

The first spinoff show they were gonna do was gonna be in the Long Night period, but HBO passed on it after viewing the pilot. Apparently they thought it wouldn't do well since it didn't look enough like GoT since the time period is set so far back. A fair thought, but I still would have liked to seen it.

Also, there's rumors the next show will actually be a sequel to GoT, following Jon Snow.
I'd actually like to see them do the Dunk & Egg stories...that was a fun read.

He really is. He’s definitely complex and we are seeing that in full.

I feel like the guards attack on the city folk in Ep 1 was just meant to be shady as to why they were doing it and really make him look bad.

He clearly does not care for the world of Westeros. Doesn’t care about arrangements and things. Might be why he just went and offed the wife from the Vale. He’s rejecting all that.

Yeah….he’s making babies with his niece. Gross. But he also shows positive qualities (in his way) that I’ve enjoyed as well.

finding a task or job for him looked to be tough.

He was his brother's Master of Coin and he sucked at it...but when it comes to something where he can exhibit his cruelty, like head of the City Watch, he thrives.

He thrives at war and destruction...but not so much on the other parts that are needed with ruling.

That’s right. A guy like that doesn’t want to be an accountant. He was clearly raised to be a warrior. So that’s what he does. He’s very much the type that just wants to do what he wants to do.

It’s another credit I give to Viscerys….he loves his brother but knows he won’t accept what it takes to be a well rounded leader. That’s why he took him off as heir.

the dynamics are clear.

I don't think Daemon is a bad dude...but he makes for a great tool for whomever is in power and needs something accomplished through force. That is necessary in Westeros.

I do however think that Daemon sees things differently and he wants to be sitting in the throne. If it weren't his brother sitting there, I think he would have done more to sit there, but he does love his brother.

That bares watching. I think he loves his niece/wife, maybe as much. Maybe he just becomes her sword. Or maybe he tries more.

That’s another thing I like about his character. You don’t know what he’s going to do.

he is definitely the wild card.

and is very much her sword

I totally missed that subtle nod. Nice find.
I couldn't remember where I saw it...thought it was maybe this thread but was wrong

but as her husband, he is required to do that sort of shit for the future queen.

how he handles his nephew will be interesting....which of them is the bigger badass?

This is hard for me since I read the books and know what will happen. The only mystery is how the actor will interpret what he must do.

I keep sneaking ahead on the Wiki...

it's all making me want to reread Dances with Dragons

I disagree.

Rhaenyra did not ask to be named heir (despite maybe wanting to be). Her father chose for her. Without the real villains meddling in that decision, her course would be wed, bed, bred and ruler until her natural death.

The real villain of this story is Lord Hightower and his conniving daughter (who is a puppet of her father).

Beware of spoilers if you don't have time to read...

I meant A Dance with Dragons, the last released book A Song of Ice and Fire, not the dance of dragons and the civil war for the throne that has to do with this storyline.

I am happy to wait and watch that story on the show

I just miss the world of Westeros and Martin's writing

Got you, it was better than A Feast for Crows, I found that one tedious.

I know the answer to your question, but I'm gonna let you keep watching & find out....either at the end of season 2 or sometime in season 3.
