Small Rivalries that went away

Ahh... Yeah, once I started getting more into hockey, CBB dropped a bit for me. Man. 8 years. That's too bad
i don't follow it as closely as i once did

i typically only watch ACC games until championship week now

Kentucky/Indiana don't play each other anymore. Calipari wanted to do neutral-site only, while Indiana wanted to do home/home. Indiana's buzzer beater win against that stacked UK team back in 2011/12 was the last time they had a regular season game.

another rivalry that Calipari kinda killed is UNC/UK. UNC is at least open to doing neutral site games, but not every year. Calipari is seemingly not a fan of home/home games with other powerhouse programs.

Illinois/Missouri play each other every year in a series called "bragging rights"

Yeah and I think the UK vs. Indiana football series was likely negotiated in alignment with the basketball matchups similar to Memphis vs. Tennessee

I watch SEC basketball fairly regularly. I hated the way the end of last season went down. Granted the SEC wasn't very good in 2019-2020 season but it stunk for the mid-major teams that would have been in March Madness.

I don't understand this. Schools play on the road in tough environments every conference season. What's wrong with venturing into one outside your conference every once in a while?

What is New Mexico State? What say you @Deep Creek?
Yep. It is more so in hoops than football...but only because neither one of us has been very good in football for a while. NMSU has stayed good in hoops. We've regressed in the last few years.

One of the odd things I always looked forward to whenever I would get a college football preview was NM State's schedule just to see if UTEP was on there. The way I recall it, UTEP was their early season rival and New Mexico would be later in the season. Or maybe I have that backwards.

You have it correct....to the extent it could work out that way.
