I think Tenn is overrated. Mostly because I think the my have some issues on defense. Give me a Oklahoma vibe. That said they are way ahead of schedule.. I think Bama has issues. This is very un-Saban like team. They have issues with penalties The secondary is really struggling (that has to piss Saban off more than anything, that is his area of expertise). The offense is finesse. The OL is mediocre. Bama’s OL is 107th is power success rate and 57th in stuff rate. Tenn might have saved Bama’s season. They exposed the issues on national TV. Bama has the talent and the coach to fix the problems. Tenn might have given Bama players the wake up call, Nick needed

Bama's defense looks as bad as it's ever looked under Saban.

I still would want no part of them in the playoff though. Saban tends to have his team locked in and ready for that about every time.

Florida gets lucky to beat a god awful South Florida team, nothing much is said about it at all. Heck Florida only dropped 2 spots in the poll from 18-20. This was the week after they showed they really weren't so good against Kentucky.

SEC teams seem to get passes from the media on these types of games. A B1G team probably falls out of the top 25 in that position.

I want to propose this to you, is it the SEC, as a whole, that has gotten the benefit of the doubt in the past or just Alabama? When it comes to teams not winning their conference but making playoffs, that has been Alabama. Georgia last year might be the only other exception from the SEC.
