Unfortunately for me, I'm going to have to keep waiting for enough rain to shut my neighbor the fuck up.
Actually, I have doubts she'll stfu even then.
She has herself so convinced the water that she says floods her yard every year is coming from mine, she had workers put out about 70 feet worth of sandbags, some of which are piled about a foot high, along our shared fence.
She is going to lose her shit when not only does that not stop her yard from flooding, it makes it even worse, because the sandbags are going to keep it all in her yard, instead of at least some of it draining though my yard.
I told her that part of her yard was higher than mine, but she told me that wasn't true, so, well, I'll just be sittin' back eating my popcorn as she's losing what little mind she has.

Had she been slightly less foul with me, flipped out on me - because apparently things like the law of gravity are too much for her to grasp - a little less, I'd be able to muster up at least an iota of compassion for what she's going to do to herself.

You should see the letters she's sent me.

I told a neighbor to pretend my house is vacant, and never speak to anyone that enters or leaves it.
 
No problems with any neighbors since I moved 3 years ago. I was asked to join the HOA board here but I declined since it would put me in direct conflict with everyone breaking HOA conditions and restrictions.

Not interested in getting into other people's business. Also, leave me the fuck alone.

That she is so off the deep end she'd be fucking stupid enough to put some of what she's put in writing on paper is worth not doing what you did ... for now.

Neighbors who get into it with each other are generally deranged or otherwise lead miserable lives.

The last time I had an HOA, it slowly became more bureaucratic, insidious and expensive. When no one really cared, it was cheap and people remembered good things like block parties and kids trick-or-treating. Later, it was several hundred bucks a year and people were out measuring parking spaces and telling homeowners that their shutters were the wrong shade of "Azure Blue" per Sherwin Williams color pattern n60172.

You made a good move. The people I knew who joined the board mostly quit in disgust or became colossal assholes.

That is where we are right now. Monthly HOA fees are $75/mo. Lots of kids playing and even blocking off parts of the street so they can ride those small cars, bikes and skateboards around. Halloween yesterday was a hoot.

People parking boats and RVs in driveways in clear violation of the rules, and nobody is getting upset about it. I'd hate to see it go more fascist.

Me too. You paid for the damn house, not the surrounding neighbors' sensibilities. If there's a truly a problem, then call the cops, health department, etc.

It's not that it's that cold right now, but the wind is ... I feel like I need a hat an scarf!!!

(yeah, yeah, laugh at the California weather wimp who is whining about cold wind when it's in the 50's, I'm sure I deserve it)

I think I’ve complained about the cold to at least five people today :laugh:

I was ok until this one gust of wind, at which point I let out a too loud, "holy shit!"
It did get a couple of chuckles and nods, though.
