Disturbing work scenes: the director of communications stopped by my desk earlier, said he just found out he was being laid off. They told him when he showed up for work. HR was following him around the office as he said goodbye to people, then they were going to escort him out of the building.

This is not a person that I could ever imagine was doing anything unethical. Really bad for morale.
The ole needing 24/7 supervision after firing people is amusing as fuck to me.

Sure, I bet there were 1-2 people who have gone all Gallagher after getting fired, but I'm pretty sure the other 99.99999999999999999999999% of people just want to gather their shit and get the fuck out without a baby sitter.

Heh...the dining hall I was working at in undergrad fired this bad attitude ghetto bitch and she started throwing and pullinh shit off shelves. Had to be physically pulled by a one of the bigger full-timers.

That's probably the only time someone's ever needed an escort out.

If you get fired from a remote job does the HR people come drag you out of your house 🤔
I'm guessing that's why they waited until he showed up to tell him, that way they could collect his ID and company cell phone. No idea if he had an agency laptop.

Thats what I wonder when I inevitably leave this job (unless I'm working at the same place for 35 years). They could remotely lock me out of my laptop but it's also got physical wear and tear so would they even want to reuse that.

Speaking of work shit....how am I supposed to pay attention to this meeting when there's people hilariously yelling at each other over a parked car right outside?

@Hu War Yu your coworker wasn't responsible for those Martha medicaid ads was he? That guy deserves to be fired....

My laptop is pretty old and beat up, they would probably just write it off
